This is my last post in SYM. I'll still be moderating, but I'm sick of the squabbling that takes the place of discussion. (Yeah, I know it doesn't begin to compare to the free-for-all that goes on at many sites, but I still hoped, idiot that I am, that it would be absent, here.)

I am sad to read that Fable, please don't let the immature squabbling chase you away........it are the perpetrators of such posts who should be taking their leave, not you......

No one should be taking their leave.

My post in which I referred to fable was not directed solely at fable. Everyone who gets involved in these debates has done at least one of those things I mentioned at least once, including me. Rather than anyone leaving, we should all work on improving. Since debates are all too common here, it would make sense for us to use these in our attempts to improve. Getting up and leaving in a case like this is just giving up, which I see as cowardly.

I, personally, have seen no one lose their temper in this topic. Ya'll generally assume that as soon as someone starts using exclamation points, captital letters, bold text, or italics, that person has lost their temper. I know for a fact that I make use of those things for emphasis, not anger, yet I have been accused of losing my temper. I've seen others doing the same thing and fable accused them of losing their temper, as have others. Sometimes, it's not even so much anger as frustration because you're unable to get what you're trying to say said in a way that makes sense. I have this problem a lot. If everyone would "assume the best, but prepare for the worst" instead of "assuming the worst and being unprepared for the best," there wouldn't be so many "problems."

I don't know who, if anyone specific, you were directing your statements at; but who else could the "perpetrators" be but those of us who disagree with fable?

It was me, I did it. You see I'm so heartless and mean. I'm a violent person, being in the military for 15 years. Killing and supporting the country is all I know.

What?! Oh no! I am away for a while and come back to this?

This remind me of a quote, I don't remember who said it (some philosopher, I believe), in Swedish is translates to something like "don't let the voices of the masses silent the wise just because they are louder".



Fable, I respect you decision and like you, I sometimes feel fed up with low tolerance for views that differs from one own and ad hominems instead of valid arguments, but still, I ask you to reconsider. If you feel fed up, take a break, but I really hope you will continue to post you valuable, insightful and educative posts here.

Please do rethink your decision
