LOL guys, take it easy, take it easy! I don't know why you are arguing, you only want the best for the story thread, and no matter what, let's remember that, it's a story thread, not a political debate where everyone has to flame each other...
Now, touch gloves, and I want a nice clean fig... *Damn, I'm supposed to DIScourage not ENcourage...
Merry Christmas Scayde, DragonWench, Thantor, Chanak, Gwalchmai, Aegis, Mysteria, McBane (return oh friend, return!), Bloodstalker, Yshania and Ned, and our long lost, but loved friends, Jennabard, Vivien (although she must return, must'nt she?
![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/)
) Loner, Kramor and everyone touched by the Dark Flames!
Sorry if I missed anyone, it's late...

@Gwally - LMAO!
![Big Grin :D](./images/smilies/)
as classic as ever - and just the medicine!
Happy Christmas, Nippy!
I hope it is a peaceful time for all here *group hug* In a positive way, you have all touched my life, and I am very grateful for this - more than I am able to articulate.
On Friday just passed, a patch of diesel on the road brought me to realise just how fragile life can be, but I am here to tell the tale and wrap some gifts tonight. I wish you all the very best for a peaceful holiday, and a prosperous New Year
Take it easy all

@Nippy and DW Thank you
![Smile :)](./images/smilies/)
*hug back* I am doing fine, I was a bit shook up at the time, and tonight I am suffering with the whiplash - but isn't that normal in DF?

Whiplash? LMAO. Depends what kind... *Winks and taps nose*
G'night all, I'm off to bed to read Terry Pratchett's Night Watch (or finish it. Got it yesterday night as an early Chrimbo present, less that 50 pages to go.
![Big Grin :D](./images/smilies/)
Good job I have a Realm of Shadow anthology to read up on.)
Actually, that's a point, if anyone can get a hold of the Return of the Archwizards trilogy, do so. It is very good writing.
Night night!

Poor babies. You mean they didn't even get the drippings?
My dog Zabiel could smell a turkey cooking within a five mile radius. Once, he sat outside and howled while a big fat one roasted in the oven. Poor guy...
I gathered up everyone's scraps and gave them to him later.
On a non-spam note...
I had something planned for Thalimon following the present sequence in the battle. He'll follow an adjoining tunnel which leads to the chamber which contains the Abyssal portal...there he will face the Guardian demon, then enter the portal to the Abyss. It follows that time flows differently there...while his efforts prior to entering the portal would be in "real time", so to speak, his time spent in the Abyss would be but a blink of the eye on the Prime Material. I envision Thalimon being teleported back to the tunnels after accomplishing his goal there, which would place him back in the company of his friends and comrades in the DF. Before I proceeded with this, I wanted to know if anyone had any objections or ideas.

I have no objections to that, it should be an interesting sequence of events to read.
Nippy is in a dazed state at the moment, he isn't really 'awake' to the battle. I'm stuck on what I could actually write in here, so I'll sit and wait, and see what happens...

I really like the latest developments with your character; conflict is always fertile soil to plant seeds in. Perhaps Nippy acts on autopilot, reacting purely from instinct as he battles the Drow forces? To one degree or another that is what happens with Thalimon when he enters combat; the Flame is the way I envision melding instinct with rational thought and will. To me, the human portion of his soul is the rational, that which makes him a paladin, and gives him the control and power needed to channel the part of his soul which represents the instinctual and savage, abyssal and demonic. His tanar'ri portion is the warrior, swift and brutal...
Though there are obviously differences between our characters, I don't think they're really all that pronounced. Nippy may be 100% human, but the same elements of light and darkness are present in him as they are in Thalimon. A number of misconceptions abound concerning paladins; he's like anyone else, except he chooses to give his will the mastery. What fascinates me is exploring the depths of channeling the darkness within into the light of the consciousness. Perhaps this is where Nippy is now?

What are people's thoughts on somehow being sucked into a portal that takes us to some alternate sort of dimension?
![Smile :)](./images/smilies/)
This would allow us to let our imaginations sow havoc
![Big Grin :D](./images/smilies/)
and we would be able to spend a bit of time away from the tunnels
Thoughts?

How about we trip back in time? Whilst keeping the battle with the Abom available, we could have an alternate story that takes us back to before all of our characters met...there will be reintroductions necessary of course
![Smile :)](./images/smilies/)
We might need another story thread opened, though, so that we can have the freedom to contribute to both until the battle with the Abom is concluded and we can bring our characters back into the present time/dimension. Or maybe it is a parallel dimension we fall into? Each of our characters suffering from amnesia of some sort...maybe some things that our characters do in one dimension impacts on our characters in the other? (though this might get complicated) Maybe we could go back, and perhaps inadvertantly weaken the Shadow Master in the past as well as the present?
![Smile :)](./images/smilies/)
Just thoughts....

I really love that idea Ysh
I am thinking it might be preferable to keep the portal section contained in the fifth book, just for greater continuity

Speaking of which, is this book gonna keep getting bigger and bigger? Or will it be closed eventually?
Re: the alternate reality thing, sounds cool to me. I live in several alternate realities anyway.
