"I accept. On all accounts. When do I start this...initiation?"

Alright, game pause.

I am sorry about stopping so suddenly, but I had to work. That, though, is not the reason I am pausing this game. I'd like to say that my style of DM'ing is different than the average DM. Most Dm's usually give you something to start on and gradually take you through the story line, but I am different. I give you several dillemas and let you do it and hold the story line off till way later in the game. So, that said is a conclusion as to why my adventures seem rushed.

(Oskata, after this battle, I can get you in the game, ok)

Anyway, game on.

"Very well then," Master says.

He leads you to a secluded room and you see an elven female there meditating.

"Leluna," he says. "I ask that you give this one his initiation test."

"Yes master," she says.

With that, Master steps out of the way and then Leluna stands up.

"Remove all your posessions except for your clothing please."

Magrus does so and sets everything off into a corner of the room and waits, ready to fight.

Remember that you will always get an attack of oppurtunity because of not having improved unarmed strike yet. Also, Your AC before wasn't correct. I had assumed that you had added your wisdom to it, so I fixed it. You shouldn't have a wisdom bonus to AC yet, therefore making it 12 now and not 14 as before. I do keep track of things and that is why I asked for your characters. That said, roll initiative.

That's right, sorry. I forgot I decided to switch from monk as first class to the soulknife. I readjusted it to be correct earlier today in armor and buckler when I got that, caught it and fixed it. :o Yeah, I know I'll probably get squished in this fight with those AOO.

She runs full speed towards you and strikes you. She hits and does 5 points of damage and you need to make a fortitude save.

(Sry, should have mentioned this, but it -is- nonlethal damage so you won't die)

You feel the wind being knocked out of you, but you manage to catch your breath and stabilize. It is your turn.

I figured as much. Thanks for the heads-up though. ;)

Magrus attempts to grapple with Leluna.

Grapple:
1d20+1
14+1 = 15

She hits you doing 5 more points of nonlethal damage and negates your grapple. She attacks and hits doing 5 more points of nonlethal damage.

(450 partial Xp for attempt)

As you wake up after some time, you see that you are in a bed. You are still in the monestary and (I'm assuming this) you grab your equipment that was brought up here and then walk down the corridor. You are greeted by grimgnaw once again.

"Hehehe, nice attempt my friend," he said. "Maybe a little more time and training and you can defeat her. Right now, though, Master wants to see you."

He leads you back to Master.

"Well done, I am impressed. Instead of trying to fight, you chose an alternate path much less harmful than I expected. Still though, I do run a strict monestary here and you -did- lose, so I will not train you yet. I suggest, though, you train with Quik some more before coming back here for another attempt. Even though you lose, I never tell people that they cannot try again. Giving up leads to being dishonerable, but losing is the path of learning."

Magrus bows and says

"Thank you for the opportunity to try Master, I'll be back to try again after I've learned some more."

Partial XP? What's that?

by Siberys
Partial Xp means that you gain XP for fighting a person/monster but not actually defeating it. Like for percentage, I gave you 50% the XP for fighing someone, and the other half for victory.

Where off to now? Two options are in order. You can go back to Quiks to see if the new member has arrived yet, or go to the fighters guild to see where Dosker is.

Hmm..so, if I beat her next time, I've already gotten half of the experience I'd get from her and couldn't get all of it again, just the second half upon defeating her?
And if I get that 450, I have enough to level btw. You'll have to let me know how that works out.
******************************************
I'll head by the Fighter's guild and check on Dosker and see if he's done, or if he's busy. If he's busy, I'll head back to Quik's.

you should have enough to level now. Let me check in a moment.

200 (construct) + 150 (bandits) + 300 (delivering orb) +450 (fight just now) = 1050.

Yes, you will only gain the other 450 Xp from her.
_____________

As you enter the fighter's guild, you see dosker worn out from some training of his own.

"hey.....Magrus......How....are.....you," he asks.

"Sore Dosker, sore. I got beaten up by one of the monks there. How about you?"
**************************************
Alright, well whenever you're ready to get into the method you use for leveling, let me know. :)

Dosker catches his breath for a second.

"Ok," he says. "I guess I'm ok. Let's head back to Quiks. I think I have mastere the little bit he has given me and I am ready for the next lessons."
________

The method for leveling is simple.

Hitpoints are average like I said at the beginning post. For you it is 5 + con modifier this level and 6 the next level. They alternate back and forth, but if you want specifics it is 5.5 per level and they stack, though a .5 doesn't count as damage isn't dealt in .5's.

everything else is as normal. Any other specific questions?

Just was curious what the "down-time" part meant. Am I allowed to switch over to my monk class now like I planned on, or do I need to have a master for that?

Posted: Fri Jun 17, 2005 8:20 pm
by Siberys
The monk has to wait for now. The only one who can and will train you is master if you pass the initiation.

Secondly, Downtime means time you have to spare and I will tell you when this is. It does take a week and 50 gold to level, even with Quik. You have 4 weeks down time to do what you wish such as quests for the guilds, train, whatever. When the actual story starts, will be sometime after that, which I will not tell you what, when, how, who, or why about it.
