That reminds me, what faction do you belong to, Fiona? The SF or the HC, or have you decided to follow our Master COMM? :D

Lately I had to learn to censor myself, and it is not working. :D

Get the chlorocannon ready but Ive searched and cant find it. Can anyone post a link to the original comm thread(s)? I wish to research, (and possibly join (depending on alignment)) this cult!

Cult? This is no cult, young one! always the young... are you willing to follow the life of COMM and shed all your useless SPAM? Are you willing to follow Weasel instead of Aegis? Say yes, and you will see... :D

Stricty neutral at all times. Never got the trick of joining factions.

Keep working on it. You have no natural aptitude, but the sense of achievement will be all the greater

LOL. I can not except you, onlty weasel can ( I am more of a preacher than a practicer)

In any case, the ancient history of COMM was delted when SYM was pruned in November of 2001. All information of its coming to be was destroyed. Several historians at the time, who had watched this place grow and prosper, were incredibly saddened by the loss of anything before April of 2001. All the history on the mazing things that ahppened were lost.

Truly a sad day in the hsitory of SYM. :(

I am disappointed to see you pass up an opportunity like that. Sudden rush of honesty to the head ?

Sorry, I get emotional when it comes to the loss of famous threads. goody, the infamous first spamming thread, was hgalted when Slewepy forgot to check his email. Because of this, no one was able to post in Goody. Officially, it was deleted for length (there were limits at the time) however it was part of the system purge.

Buck decided not to keep no backups. It was a massive amount of information. Anything regarding many members and topics were lost.

Look back and you will not find anything before the ending of April.

This has been the teachings of the historians. Perhaps I will ask if I can perform a system recovery of the grabveyard to see if the system left them as notpad documents.

Good idea. I'm sure you're not the only archaeologist here :)

How do you know these things, BTW

Actually, both Minerva and Gwalchmai were archeologists long before my time. Shows a little of what SYm used to look like. I would not be surprised if all of a sudden he decideds to delete it asll again.

On your computer, you can delete certain files. However, for a set amount of time (quite long on a server) these ites will be marked as "tombstone", so you can still recover them.

They are also transferred into different types of programs, to take up less space. :)

Wish I could do that. My computer at work crashes all the time wiping out piles of stuff. The techie people always tell me it's irrecoverable. But maybe it's a different kind of problem

It is. The computer can't create the RIP; it is instantly deleted. Any work that has been saved and accidentally deleted can be recovered. Any stuff that was wiped clean (ooh... shiny magnet) is not.

Actually, the server I use (its big and shiny and has RIPs from before the millenium) is always crashing as well, but the computer automatically records everything that is going on, and then sends that information to a secondary redundant server. :D

Also, corrupted files, and viruses, cant be reuploaded. I dont know how long things last on the gamebanshee server though. Perhaps it is still floating around; that means that it can still be reactivated. If it is not, then too bad. It is his site, so he doesnt have to do a thing if he doesnt want to.

So what's the point of the factions, to get back to what you were talking about?

Posted: Thu Oct 13, 2005 7:27 pm
by ch85us2001
So do you think we could worm our way abck to COMM?

Posted: Thu Oct 13, 2005 7:40 pm
by Hill-Shatar
Aw, right.

COMM was started by Weasel as a way to take on aprrentices who wished to learn howto spam. By creating this he influenced the event so fSYM in many ways. For example, the evoltuion of the two gods, the creation of the Dark Flamers, and the eventual coming of the Heathens last year.

As you can see, COMM is much more ancient thatn many factions, however, is equivalent in age to the SPAMMERs.

I have to make sure you guiys are around before I continue. :)

Yeah Im back. I hope that DW doesnt think Im twisting poetry :o !

I know some of the dark flame history. (I think)

go ahead and enlighten me. Which one of these Dark Flames threads do you speak of? I have toi admit, I leave the DFs alone. They scare me somewhat. ;) :D

Meanwhile, I will continue some of the breif over view I have been doing on SYM history. :)
Anyways, there were two gods, Aegius and Fable. This is what the heathens were created to fight.

In olden times, SPAMMERs became GODS. However, the term god has changed, it seems, to those who are moderators, above the age of twenty and have a posty count above 10,000.

Anyways, the Heathens originally welcomed those of COMM into the fold, with open hearts, as they too fought against the evilness of the gods. However, the persisted. Eventually, thanks to certain bloodthristry people on both sides, COMM and Heathens went to war for twenty pages, finally brought to an end when Luis said stop it.

Since then, multiple atemptsd have been made to instigate a war. None of us have been around during these vicous times, fortunately.

Current members that I can think of off the top of my head:

Fas
Weasel
Maharlika
Obsidian
Ideal Maxima

and many others. However, recently many of these people have moved on. 3 of the above are moderators. Weasel is opne of the most infamous posters around. IM has decided to lower his s[pam rate.

Many others have disapeared as well, however, others have gone up to moderator status, or still post today.

I will post more completely in the future. :)

From what I can tell, this elusive group is a set of fan fiction stories. I believe it has three chapters (so far)

1 original Dark flames
2 Scattered embers
3 Scattered embers, flames rekindled

My search button is broke. so thats all I know.

And I am a heathen myself (though not a founding member) so that history is quite accessable.

So we can say that the SF is (indirectly) desended from COMM since I am a heathen and the founder of the SF

Whoo geneaology!
