Honestly? I don't know what I just did. It was really late and about halfway through I began drooling on the keyboard and started typing with my toes.
In all seriousness though, he's either dead, or the axe has taken his spirit (hence the crazy wizard bit). Or I was just hallucinating at the time, I'm not sure.
He'll be back though, that's all I know.
@Demo...Ewww that's gross. Erudish is almost twenty years older and this is no Michael Douglas/Catherine Zeta-Jones thing. I assure you, by the time Amelie's of age, Erudish will be senile.
Well, I can think of a couple ways to take the matter with Erudish, one of which involves the idea of the spirit inhabiting the axe now. With some creativity from Amelie, a direction could be taken. Otherwise, I'm not sure what to do. I'll try to think of something.

Tell me what you got and I'll see what I can whip up. Him being in the axe is probably the best way to go with this, although I'm not seeing where you're going with Amelie. Enlighten me

a major part of getting to the "bottle-gnome" could be in bring Erudish back out of the axe, or it could be major side quest that we take inorder to fulfill(sp?) the main quest? does that help?

I'd like to avoid connecting everything as though it were one grand scheme. Z, before I can post anything, I really need a solid idea of what happened to Erudish, from your perspective. Until then, I'm floating in the dark.

Ok. Here goes. Erudish just got the crap kicked out of him and either the axe 'ate' his soul (as discussed earlier in the thread) or he is actually dead.
I'm leaning towards the axe having eaten his soul, because it'd make for a good sideplot to go alongside of the bottle-gnome while everyone else makes their way to Windhaven. The problem with this though, is that there was speculation that the person who keeps these souls (the axe is a medium not the actual phylactery) could have a link to the unknown evil. As you can see, this would move the plot forward way too quickly. So, IMO, I think that Amelie or Squee, since they are the only ones with magical aptitude, would have to somehow pull Erudish back from the mage who currently has his soul.
Conversely, we could abandon him for the moment and I could write purely from the perspective of Amelie. There's no problem with this except that I, being a guy, probably will have trouble coming across as a 10-12 year old girl.
Should we decide that he really is dead, Squee or Amelie would probably have to resurrect him, although that wouldn't be as fun to write.

ah true Aegis, i dont speak for everyone, but i would atleast be willing to try and bring Erudish back, from Blades perspective, hes an allie to the party, and he would do everything in his power to get him back, but i dont know what everyone else would do

@Aegis, Z
Sorry about the long break between posts. My work has picked up significantly of late. Anyway... I dropped Setanta into the mix. He was following the usurped orc legion for a few days and watched the whole shootout between Erudish and the other Orc leader. He thinks that Amelie is who he is supposed to save. Unfortunately, he's going to save her from Aegis and Gypsy because he's jumped to the erroneous conclusion that that is what he should do. I haven't written any combat for him thus far, but he is a real wrecking crew, especially when he gets the jump on someone. So, I would like to find a way around his killing Aegis and/or Gypsy (or the other way around- I know they aren't exactly weaklings either
). We'll have to figure something out.
@ Z
Save the half orc! He's kind of the lynchpin that is holding our section of the story together. Granted, you could move ahead with Amelie, but I actually think that you've done a great job with him thus far, and just dropping him would be a waste imo. With that said, I don't have any idea how to get his soul out of the ax.
Edit- I updated my character page to reflect some of Setanta's equipment.

I tend to think it would be good to ressurect Erudish. As everyone has said, he is a great character who adds a lot of depth and complexity to the story.
I like the idea of trying to wrest his soul away from the axe as well. My only problem is that it could lack some credibility. What I mean is that so far the only character likely to insist it be done is Amelie, since she has established such a strong bond with him. IMO, the only way this would work is if Amelie cajoled Aegis' characters to aid her in the endeavour, perhaps with the aid of charm magic.
However, I'm somewhat wary of instroducing what could be a complicated sidequest at this point. We still have not managed to all meet up in Windhaven, and the group around Erudish has also just been given the bottle gnome quest from Squee. So, for that reason, I favour a basic ressurection. Going after the souls in the axe, and the said mage, could be held off until a bit later IMO.
Just my two cents anyway

Editing it would be my last resort, but it's getting to that point
Something just occurred to me: what if Amelie can sort of sense that Erudish is 'alive' but lacks the knowledge or skill to understand how and how to undo it? Seeing as how Gypsy thinks that Amelie's a nice little girl, she could be convinced to go to Windhaven and figure out what's happened. On the way Aegis and Gypsy could become quite attached to the girl, which would motivate them to help her. Then, seeing as how two bards (with good lore), a couple druids, and several mages would be there (I'm assuming everyone's eventually going to end up at Windhaven), Amelie might be able to get help through lying (i.e, my daddy is stuck in the axe, waaaaaah!)
This leaves plenty of time for other plots to develop and it pushes back this whole business with the axe. It also guarantees that the big guy will be back to punish the puny humans for stalling so long
Oh and, since he's alive, there's always the possibility of how his soul feels about this whole matter.

um, shes a lil girl, i dont think she needs to use magiks lol
well, Blade has a set of earrings of sending, we could always split up, Aegis and Gypsy could go after the "bottle-gnome" while the rest goes to help the half-orc fool, i mean Erudish lol, would that work?

I like this idea. Kieshe will probably end up helping, no matter what Amelie says, seeing as she's got a little five-year-old with her, and will be predisposed towards little kids.

Heh heh, unfortunately for Aerie though, Kieshe isn't predisposed towards elves with chopped off wings who whine constantly
@Demo, Cuch...well a little late for the first run seeing as how Aegis and Gypsy got a taste of the half-orc. Seconds are coming up though
