Waverly feels like he is being watched as he saunters down the street. Now he is the one who's neck is burning! He twirls around to the sight of a vaguely familiar form.

Gruntboy - Hello Waverly, remember me? Baldurs Gate? Three seasons ago? What were you doing in that accursed place? I fear I shall never be able to return there again. Though the call of evil has long arms, it seems it finds us both here in Athkatla.

Waverly (to Gruntboy): "Yes, old..er..friend <Waverly lies> Now is the time for you to tell me what you know of this Ubik fellow and perhaps a bit about this Magus nancy-boy. Can I interest you in a Harlot? My treat.

GB- Yes, a harlot would be nice. Not those awful pox-ridden ones though. The nice clean ones at the copper coronet. But first, let us find a secluded spot to discuss the matters at hand. <The pair shift off the street. Gruntboy is tempted by the large pockets on Waverly's robe but decides against it - it was some time since he last saw the mage in action. Since then he has been concentrating on his fighting skills, not his past as a thief>

GB- That damn Ubik has a way of getting into the brains of the weak-willed. I can hear him calling. Don't know how he got to you, you seem powerful enough. I'll be the son of a balor if I know where he is now. I found one of his peons a few hours ago - said to gather upstairs at the CC, maybe others will bw there. Maybe he'll tell us what he has... to offer, somehow. To the ale then and I believe you owe me a shadowdark... (smirking Image)

Sh!t! I got confused by an earlier post by Magus. Waverly, ever the scoundral nearly decides to leave the trap set, but instead summons a bunny rabit to 'disarm' it.

Edit: obviously Waverly and Gruntboy have been on a bit of a bender and are painfully unaware of recent events. Ubik will be so proud.

Waverly (to GB): "Meeting? You were at the meeting for crying out loud. Obviously you know no more than I. What about this Magus? Or did you sleep through that part of the meeting as well?

Waverly waves over a couple harlots and refreshes their mugs.

Waverly: "Do you remember that travelling circus that used to pass through the area? I thought I saw the strangest thing today..."

GB- What meeting? Must be the black lotus again. I swear its making me paranoid... Yes do continue, the circus? And what, pray, did you see at this bumpkins entertainment?

Waverly (to GB): "You don't remember the after-hours 'entertainment' they offered? This pervert, Quale, I think his name was, had a winged elf that would 'perform'. Ah, if you have been robbed of this memory you are much the worse for it. Suffice it to say I thought I saw her today, and was reminded of the circus"

"Are you going to volunteer what you know of Magus, or has the drink stolen those memories as well? And stop eyeing my pockets! You have been warned."

GB - That Magus, the rat. I seem to have this thing for crossing mages, er, no offence. Stole a rather nice pair of silk gloves from him once. Fetched a fair price with my fence in Baldur's Gate. Though I'll not forgive him for almost slicing me open with those infernal conjured swords of his. I think I know his weakness mind you. And I may have a few contacts who can help us find his stronghold, should we desire to purvey it ...

(to GB): Perhaps. Ubik has given us little in the way of direction, could we really be blamed if we paid Magus a visit and tiolet papered his trees and left a bag of burning dogsh!t on his porch? I was about about to shake down those happy, happy halflings in the Five Flagons for some spare gold, but I am up for anything; especially after that last pint.

Suddenly a nymph appears in front of Gruntboy and Waverly.

"My master has sent me. My master wishes me to summon thee in his place. My master sais no more fooling around at the Coper Coronet, buying drinks for the whores, ziping on booze and generaly misusing his hardly stolen money he gave you last time you met. My master says it is urgent. My master says drag your filthy arses to his place. My master says use the sewers, nobody must know who is ruling the "place" now."

"Wow... what a pretty littul doll this one is.." Gruntboy couldn't help himself and just kept starring at her.
Waverly was impressed too, but he - unlikely Gruntboy -recognized the nymph who was standing in front of them. It was a kinky nymph, from another plane, used by powerfull wicked necromancers as a familiar. And this particular kinky nymph was propably Ubik's familiar.

"No fooling around with magus's property Gruntboy - for now. Let's go to the... place, and find out what he wants"

"Erhhm... what? Who?"

Take your eyes of her, or she is gonna give you the Chrissy's stare. And you don't wanna handle such a threat right now, my friend".

Both left, as the nymph vanished in the shadows of the C.C.

Sorry to disturb but:
UBIK, you gave my special ability to a Nymph? Oh well... I suppose it is extremely useful... can't really blame you. Image

Weasel arises from his table in the back of the Copper C and starts to the door.

The ones he is looking for have just left and he is going to follow them..

by Aegis
Aegis, after learning near to nothing in the Copper Coronet, stood outside in a nearby alley. As he stood, his left hand rested gently on his sword, and pondered where to go next. His thoughts became interupted by a sudden down pour of rain, forcing him indoors. He quickly made his way to the nearest doorway, and lean on it, keep well out of the rain. He motioned for Tag to come to him.

As he stood in the doorway, thinking, he also watched the empty streets of the Slums like a hawk. He took note of almost every little detail.

As he stood, his eyebrow quirked a bit wehn he saw to characters enter the CC, where he had just come from. He recognized one of them as the Mage outside talking to the beggar. The other was one he hadn't seen before. He thought to himself that they might have something to do with Ubik person. He kneeled over, and removed a piece of parchment from his pack, and scribbled a message down on it quickly. He then tucked into the collar Tag wore around his next.

Aegis: Go Tag! Get help from the Order! (Points in the direction of the Order)

Tag barked, and took off towards the order. Aegis watched his dog run through the streets until he was out of site. He then turned back to the CC, and loosened his sword in it's hilt, and moved his sheild from where it was strapped on his back to his forearm. He then waited in the dorrway across from the CC.

Tag rushed through the streets of Athkatla in record time. He reached the Order quickly. By now, the rain had calmed down. Tag charged through the open door, and ran directly to Praelit Keldorn's office.

Keldorn: (Looks to Tag, seeing the note in his collar) What is it boy? What does Aegis have to report?

Keldorn took the note out, and skimmed it quickly...

"Praelit! I have found two characters entering the Copper Coronet. They struck me as odd, and I suspect they might have something to do with the Ubik situation. Please send reinforments, for one of them appears to be a Mage of skill."

Keldorn looked up, a grim expression on his face. He called for his squire immediately...

(This won't be a death fight if a fight even does happen. This should just be interesting to see some bluffing going on, or even a small force of NPC Paladins getting whooped...)

Ok, Aegis...

There is absolutely NOTHING that leads us to an violent incident right now. Information collection is what interests everyone and knowing who the enemy is. No "come on and have your arse kicked" situations for now. Just for now. When the time is right they shall occure, naturally, not forced. NOT NOW, this ain't ripe for DIABLOing around yet.
IMHO that is. Others may have something else in mind. And if "just seing two people going into CC makes you think they MIGHT be associated to "that Ubik"... bloody hell, I cannot follow that line of thoughts... how in the nine hells did you figured out they were associated to Ubik??? Was it their looks? Their deo was that bad? Or you have the bleeding 9nth sense?

Reason, my good friend, reason. This has to go by reason, not blood thirst.

Saw me give money to a beggar and now you want to kick my @ss? Paladins! How many hit points does Tag have? My guess is Timestop followed by Horrid Wilting X3 would ruin his whole day (and yours) Image As much as we would like to engage you at this time, oh Paladin of lost causes Image Waverly and Gruntboy have left through the tunnel to the slavers compound and are now moving through the sewers to the...place- as per Ubik's strict orders.
