Dragonlance Campaign Thread
I'll say you know it well enough not to trip over anything and the general layout for a few miles around. Nothing of an intimate and memorized nature though. You know the major landmarks, can tell which directions which and other than that, have simply been wandering through the wilderness on your way "somewhere". Perhaps the elven kingdom of Qualinesti doing research, or whatever you happen to come up with. These are the first "people" you've encountered for miles however.
*************************************
Coming closer you spot the two "creatures" as a human wizard in a red robe and draconian in black armor, followed by a rather large ape wearing hide armor. They are still moving towards the group of minotaurs which are attacking the two skeleton's.
You are now roughly half-way between the two groups position, 200 feet distant to the west.

"Oh, so I can crate you and hide you in the warehouse at the end of Raiders?"
"So funny, kiss me funny boy!" / *Sprays mace* " I know, I know, bad for the ozone"

OOC: about the area: do I know the nearest city/dwelling/part of civilisation? also, how many minotaurs are there actualy?
************************
At soonest turn
As soon as Jakal comes in range to cast a magic missile, he carefully lays down his crossbow (dont want to wave a loaded crossbow around) and sends a barrage of 3 missiles to the strongest looking minotaur (minotaurs are no good, even when they are fighting undead) or the closest if they look equaly strong.
While casting, he makes extra noise, hoping to divert the attention of the creatures and forcing a moment of indecision.
Distance to minotaurs: 180 ft
Damage: 3d4 + 3, certain hit

No, you don't. You've been heading through fields and the occasional forest for some time now and haven't seen any signs of civilization yet since you left your village some 50 miles back. You have plenty of supplies and hunting has been good so you haven't had a need to search for any towns yet.
There are 2 dead minotuars on the ground, 6 live ones swinging greatswords at the skeleton's, along with 2 more in the back directing the others. These are wearing black plate mail while carrying both very large shields and swords.
******************************************
Running up closer, you fire off a barrage of missiles into the nearest minotaur. It stumbles and the skeleton it had been swinging at suddenly swings his sword down against it's head mid-stumble, dropping it low. The skeleton turns it's head, looking straight at you and so do two of the nearby minotaur's. The other's keep fighting, unaware of your presence. The two in metal armor turn, and shout a command, at which the two minotaur's who had noticed your presense earlier jump and run after you. The others close the circle up around the skeleton's.
You do 9 points of damage with your spell.

Now lets wait for the others to act.
After that, Jakall picks up the crossbow (not firing it), casts fly and gets out of reach of those overgrown bulls, then he'd probably shoot from above their heads. In any moment he has time, he keeps his eyes out for ranged weapons and keeps an eye on the two commanders

OOC: ignore the PM, or not as you wish

The minotaur's sent to chase after you stop where they are when they notice you flying up into the air, barking something unintelligable behind them, pull large crossbow's off of their backs, kneel down in the field and load them before taking aim at you.

I sent you one back, we can use that backstory, and you have info the other's don't based on your background. Use that how you want.

Jakal Immediately raises his mage armor, increasing his AC by 4. Then he puts his hand to his neck and fumbles a bit. When the hand appears again, It's holding a small gold sphere which Jakal tosses towards the two minotaurs

That's fine, both of them know I move the game along once someone's ready to play for a while.

The minotaur on your right dodges and only gets hit by the edge of the blast, then fires off a bolt from his crossbow. The one on the left fires a bolt and is hit by the fireball dead on. The bolts fly by you, missing completely.
You deal 20 damage to the minotaur on the left, and 10 to the one on the right.

Focussing to get one out of fighting strength, Jakal fires his crossbow at the badly burned minotaur, then reloads his crosbow
attack +9 (base +4, dex +3, MW bow, MW bolts +2
damage 1d8

OOC: always give the DM all the info so he doesnt need to look things up

You fire off your bolt, and it lands squarely in the minotaur's chest, punching through his armor and coming nearly all the way through his chest altogether.
The two minotaurs fire again at you, but miss again. Frustrated, one of them bellows something in its tongue towards it's commander's again. You see one of them turn on his heel and storm through the forest to the north.
You do a critical hit and deal 14 points of damage.
************************
Edit: Yes, I have, I love that strip.
Thanks for the info as well, I appreciate it. Makes my job easier, this dice rolling webpage bogs down sometimes and takes forever to load up the rolls.

scarebabies....... getting reinforcements.
Jakal screams at the others "Happy battle! I'll go after the runner!"
cast invisibility (ready for a sneakattack ), and fly after the minotaur who ran

You fly up into the air and charge after the minotaur, you can see him through the trees. Still, you'd need to descend in order to make a decent shot at him. You'll be within range within another round.
You hear the minotuar's behind you shouting and cursing as they reload their crossbows.

Well, the minotaurs cant see Jakal(**cast invisibility **). Jakal descends to almost ground level for a clear shot, using the arterial strike feat.
attack + 11 (+2 invisible, enemy loses dex bonus to AC)
damage 1d8
Loading the crossbow costs too much time so Jakal switches to magic missiles once again.

yes. Its never funny if someone runs away, it always means more trouble. Since the flying lasts for a good time still, I can probably get out too if he does reach his friends.

Very very true.
***********************************
You fly silently behind the minotaur and fire a bolt off, the bolt bounces harmlessly off of his black armor. Spinning around and in the blink of an eye drawing his bastard sword he growls while glaring back at you...
"Stupid wizard...I'll have your hide for that!"
You notice etchings of black lily's all over his armor and helmet as he lowers his head to charge after you.

fire off a magic missile (3d4+3) and gently drift out of (at least) horns reach, and hope I'm in time.

The missiles fly at him, scoring hits across his armored chest. You fly up out of the way as he charges past you. He grunts, sheathes his sword, drops his shield and pulls his longbow off of his back and strings it.
You do 11 points of damage to him.
He screams...
"You're going to regret this when Druegin hears of all of this!"

You left of a barrage of missiles, doing 12 points of damage to the minotaur.
He fires off two arrows and both of them whizz right past your head as you duck behind a tree. Chuckling the minotaur says as he draws another arrow.
"The wee one's fixing to be the new highlord around here."
