Yep, see you tomorrow, Slade.

@Chu, yeah, you can two 512MB sticks of RAM, just make sure it's the right type - e.g. DIMM, DDR etc (I've had so many problems with that  ).
It would say in documentation for your motherboard, if you know what it is.
It would say in documentation for your motherboard, if you know what it is.
Couldn't he make the assumption that what he has now is the right kind, and go with that? Of course that wouldn't tell him what speeds will work the best, but it should at least give him the general kind of memory to get.

Not really, say you have 256MB installed, even if that works, you can't just go out and buy another 256MB and expect it to work. There are lots of different types of RAM designed for newer and older motherboards with differents setups. One 256MB RAM stick could have a different number of pins to another, for example, either it wouldn't fit, work or might even burn something out.
And then you have to consider that some motherboards won't be able to cope with something over a certain amount of memory. This computer I'm using can't cope with more than 512MB in the form of 2x 256MB sticks. *shrugs*

Um, sorry, long explanation there. :p
