Yeah, I prefer those as they are more logical. In the other ones, you can lose marks, and have no idea how, with the other ones, you know where you get the marks.

I could have held onto that orb for a lot longer if the game hadn't moved me, someone actually deserted the orb for me...saying that they didn't have the strength to hold onto it for long anyway...

As far as I know, he does, yeah. Probably not as much as he used to though. I think he suffered from the automatic move thing too, he had a few orbs at one stage.
