LOTS of uber-type Jedi and Sith? :laugh:bigredpanda wrote:There's another thread on multiplayer features, so I won't take up too much time here.
I'm not a huge fan of online gaming, which is probably why I don't "get it"... but surely, if K3 is going to follow K1 and 2 with the main character being a kind of uber-jedi type, one of a kind, and the whole point being that only YOU can save the universe... how do you tanslate that it into letting more people into the same universe?
Then what's the point of playing the game if you're already a super-powerful Jedi/Sith? Granted, most games is about starting off from a simple, low-level state and growing into a powerful individual. Starting off from a powerful person at the beginning will kill the excitement in playing a game.Darth Valrith wrote:LOTS of uber-type Jedi and Sith?
By request, an opinion.czone wrote:Maybe in the singleplayer mode, you're a uber jedi in the end, but get killed by Revan and THEN you can play on multiplayer mode...
i think what he means is this sequence of evetns:bigredpanda wrote:By request, an opinion.
So are you saying that the game doesn't finish until you get on to multiplayer mode? I'm not sure I'd buy a game that I couldn't complete on my own. Or do you mean you don't "finish" the game, but the end of the game is you getting killed? Again, that doesn't sound over-satisfying as an end to a trilogy... But I'm not sure if I'm understanding you.
sort of like what Carth does with Revan at the begining of K1?czone wrote: And before you ask questions, if you are later in the multiplayer you must find Revan but a friend can pick you up and you can fight in the war right away.
Hmm, still not sure about this. From a simple marketing perspective, you'd have to wait for people to finish the game before any multiplayer can take place. Apologies if this has happened in other games, on-line multiplayer isn't sometihng I know a huge amount about. Then, say it gets leaked that at the end of the game, no matter how brilliant your character, you'll always die? Doesn't that render playing the single player a bit pointless once you know that?Darth Valrith wrote:i think what he means is this sequence of evetns:
1)play the game, you finish as this crazy over-powered Jedi/Sith
2)Revan kills you
3)this enables multiplayer, where you're just a random "nobody" Jedi.
@czone: my apologies if that's not what you meant.
Yeah, like some kind of face creator like in Oblivion, loads of different skills... could be cool.czone wrote:My die at the end was just an axample, because you can't make a multiplayer with thousands of people that all have the same character, and if you let him live then there will be questions about the main character...
Just got up with this idea, what about making so much possibility's in character making that its just 0,00000001 % chance that 2 people have the same chracter. But, still it can't happen because in singleplayer exactly the same happens to 1000 peoples.....
I'd much prefer the face customisation in the Sims 2 more than the one in Oblivion as I find the latter's much more restrictive. Move one slider and the rest will follow suit. Find it very annoying.bigredpanda wrote:Yeah, like some kind of face creator like in Oblivion, loads of different skills... could be cool.
Can't argue with that. There is a very good reason why multiplayer was never implemented in either of the KOTOR games (just look at the way the game is designed and you can guess why). In my opinion, I will be more convinced if Lucasarts allow development of two different games, one is KOTOR 3 and the other a KOTOR MMO, rather than a KOTOR 3 with an MMO component.bigredpanda wrote: However, I think the underlying problem is that KOTOR games - at least as they are in 1 and 2 - just don't lend themselves to a multiplayer environment.
i agree with both parts of your post, although i ahve never played Oblivion. the only online games i've played or kind of played are Runescape (bleh) and WoW, and personally i liked the numerous options of WoW, so i think something along those lines would be decent. obviously, though, we wouldn't be playing WoW races. i'll take a rodian over a gnome anyday... also, your idea of K3 and a KotOR MMO being seperate is cool too.DesR85 wrote:I'd much prefer the face customisation in the Sims 2 more than the one in Oblivion as I find the latter's much more restrictive. I love that idea. Absolutely love it. Though I see your point: I would love to sit and watch the game back as a movie, but I'm not sure enough poeple would to make it happen. But I still love the idea.Darth Valthri wrote:
anyways, i just had an AWESOME idea! after you beat KotOR 3, regardless of gender or alignment, what you've played becomes a movie at the main menu (it would be overwritten each time you complete a new game). and the idea is that it becomes more movie-like. so every combat action you make looks more stylish (the HUD would obviously be gone), and the results are basically the same (if enemy uses Force Wave, but knocks back 1 or 2 of the characters, we see them get knocked back, but there's no HUD or anything). this would allow for attacks to be linked together without pauses. also, with dialogue. if you say something, maybe what you say isn't actually said by the character in the game, but during the movie, the voice actor/actress will say what you chose from the dialogue options. the only 2 problems i can see for this idea would be: 1) extra space needed for the movie, and 2) who would sit around for several hours re-watching what they've done?
Are you sure this is feasible for an RPG that spans somewhere between 40-50 hours? I know several RTSes have this feature (only in skirmishes, though) but these types of games don't take very long to complete. RPGs, on the other hand, take much longer to complete. Imagine sitting through a 40+ hour movie. It'll surely be a drag by then.bigredpanda wrote:I love that idea. Absolutely love it.
