I know

What in blazes is wrong with this country that these people aren't tarred and feathered and beat through the town at the tail of a cart? Eh?
Ha. Blame the people who hire them...without them there wouldn't be any of these 'motovational guru' types.
@ Magrus. My work matters to me and they wasted my time; insulted my intelligence; and smuggled in their right wing agenda, as usual.
I completely understand. As lowly and insignificant as my job happens to be, I work there, and hence do my best to attempt to take a certain amount of pride in it regardless. The fact the people running the company are draining the profits out of the business and letting it rot from the inside infuriates me to no end. They strut around attempting to tell us what to do and I just want to ask them why they bother talking to me if they don't care whether or not they'll have a functional store within a few years.

I may be the minimum grunt that stocks shelves, but I'm still more intelligent than they are in all probability and being treated as a moron incapable of higher thinking because of my position is irritating.
@ Slade, Hello!

Oh I do,I do. Jack McConnell first!
@ Magrus. Same mentality, same reaction. What is ironic is that the whole thing was about self-esteem. They were explaining in words of one syllable that a. it is important and b. it is built by "empowering" people, and respecting what they do. The whole audience work in education, social work and the health service every day! They haven't the wit to see the irony though. I hate this crap. I hate it every day but I hate it more when I have to sit and be patronised by the morally and intellectually challenged.

The odd rare one who does have the wit just couldn't care less. To them ruining an employee's day must be a nice hobby.
@Juni, Welcome Back!
Hello everyone!

Back from lunch are we? I just woke up from a nap a little while ago.
@ Fiona, I got that reaction from teachers and therapists to be honest. Everyone telling me what I "should" or "have to" do, with no one paying attention to what I have done in the first place, or what is really going on currently. In fact, it's my general reaction to most people. They don't pay attention to the importance of the skill of communication.

They are not just ruining the day, Rav. They are ruining the welfare state. Some of them are stupid and some of them are wicked and some of them are greedy. But they are all truly dangerous bastards.
@Juni and Slade. Sorry for my lapse in manners. I am preoccupied. But it is nice to see you both
They don't pay attention to the importance of the skill of communication.
Communication is overrated. If you already know everything, why bother listening to someone blather on about themselves?
To be serious for a second, how many clients do you think teachers and therapists deal with that are honest about themselves and their situations? How many people are willing to open themselves up and admit what it really going on? It is more often the case that people trying to help you just don't know whether you are being honest or BS'ing them, so they run with what they think is right. It isn't always right, but in most circumstances, they really are trying to help.
That doesn't apply to your management's attitudes though. Those guys are just hosers.

If people actually listened to what they said they might be a danger, but they're always hired to talk to people who already know 95% of what they're saying anyway. Teaching Sixth Form students about study skills? Hello, did they think we were new to education or something?

Man, how many times do we have to tell you not to apologize?
We're all thick-skinned here. We can handle it. Sometimes.

@ Slade, it's my day off, and I decided to tease Juni at work.
@ Juni, I did! More wonderful dreams.
@ Darzog, You make a good point there I suppose. Meh, I tend to be brutally honest with people until I find out they are incapable of handling honesty. Then I go all loony tunes on them and say whatever amuses or confuses them. They deserve it.

@ Rav. No but they think it is a good idea to habituate you to the idea they are morons. They are morons with power and money (not the gurus they are just profiteers) but with any luck you will write them off as idiots until they have achieved their halfwitted policy agenda. And slip the announcement in when you are not listening because you have reached that conclusion
