I didn't like it too much either. And the ending confused me, until someone finally explained that the birds weren't the mortal enemy of the aliens....

They were not immune to bacteria, or at leasy certain types. This is what lead to the destruction of them. The boods spread bacteria and disease better than any other naimal. Therefore, they were doomed the second they stepped foot on the planet.

I hoped water was the cause of alien failure for a while, that'd be funnier...why go to the trouble of invading a planet that's 70% water if it destroys you?

The bird flu always pops up in movies somewhere, or at least some sort of birds. Ever seen the movie "When Birds Attack" ?
