@All: A little DM inspiration here. Yes, Sedge is technically in command right now. I'll guide you in the right direction. Basically, go find Clan battlehammer.

Well, I'm trying to provide a nice bit of background of the issues surrounding Gilthanas' and Anduin's past.

@Nippy: We're stuck in a time loop. Don't mind us.

You guys should just go on ahead with the main story. We wouldn't want to hold it up on our account.

Sorry, all! Been hammered IRL.

Hopefully I'll get an addition to the story soon!

@Aegis: Err...I'm kind of stuck with nothing to do.

I'm not really sure where you want to go with all this, so I've been waiting for your next post. And waiting. And waiting.

Should I just throw something out and hope it works into your plan?

Heh, sorry about that. Have an exam coming up, and been very preoccupied (that, and I just bought Jedi Knight 2 last week, and Morrowind

) I'll try to get something posted tonight.

"give me a good reason why I should trust you and let you enter." Durn replied "Because we have a common enemy, orcs.
@Durwyn: What does letting Durn in (and the others for that matter) have to do with orcs? <scratches head bewilderedly>

@Aegis: I know the feeling.

My three most important exams of the year are this week and next. As of late I get home, check the board, do homework, and go to bed. Literally. It sucks.

Dwarves are natural nemies of orcs and goblins. He wanted to see if Durn had complietly forsken orc kind. He didn't want a half-orc still working with orcs to enter the halls where he could do a number of things. (sabotage, learn the area so he could direct orcs through the caverns...)

But also, Dwarves generally aren't even that trusting, especially of orcs.

you guys can flame me for asking these questions but whats a verbeeg and are Anduin and Gilthanas dead? From the way i see it, they are just out cold on the ledge.

Stage fright
Eek

I don't know how to write my character into the mines...I've been reading R.A and Regis only entered after getting to know Drizzt and Breunor(Ahh I can't even spell his name), so how do they react to halflings?

I think that they would be just fine about halflings.

@Durwyn: Durn may be an enemy of orcs, but that doesn't necessarily make him trustworthy. Remember, he's talking to a complete stranger, and a dwarf at that, as Aegis pointed out. I wouldn't think they'd be so quick to let anyone in, let alone a half-orc.
But what I was trying to point out is this. The dwarf asks why he should let him (or them) enter. Durn responds by saying he's an enemy of orcs. So you're saying they should let a bunch of suspicious non-dwarves in just because one of them claims to be an enemy of orcs? An important question goes unanswered: What does the group want with Clan Battlehammer? And why? It seems to me that the answer has far more to do with the “creature” than orcs.
@Arcane: I don’t know much about verbeeg myself, but I’ll try to answer your question. Verbeeg are a race of giant-kin, larger than humans but smaller than giants. Their height ranges from 9 ft. to 12 ft. The other giant-kin include ogres and firbolgs, as well as another highly-deformed race that I can’t remember the name of right now. The verbeeg’s distinguishing characteristic is their huge flat feet. They’re also rather hairy, I think. They’re smarter than ogres, but are still a bit slower than the average human. Usually good-natured, they have a tendency towards larceny. Their typical alignment is Chaotic Neutral, I believe. Hopefully that helps. It’s all something I picked up from a single book about giant-kin a while ago, so I don’t know how accurate it is.
As for your other question, Gilthanas better not be dead!

I don’t know about Aegis, but I’m not through with my character. Your assumption’s probably safe for now. We’ll find out the particulars soon enough, I expect.

So, what happend now?
Do we re-write the encounter?

@Rob-hin: The last couple of sentences are the only part in question...it doesn't need to be completely rewritten, if it even needs to be changed at all. What do you think, Aegis?
