You deal 7 points of damage.
The minotuar growls loudly while rushing around the tree and firing two arrows at you. Both miss and he curses at you.
He says as he hooks his bow on his back and draws his sword again...
"He won't be happy if any of you get away, and then, then he'll feed me to Onsy"

Jakal is holding fire. Too stunned to do much
"You're not saying the gnome with his black über-lizard are scaring you in attacking? thats the only thing I seen that could possibly scare you since you're obvious too stupid to be scared very quickly."

The minotaur leaps at you while swinging his sword wildly and striking you.
You take 11 points of damage.
He laughs and says
"You saw Druegin and Onsy's son playing then eh?"

I knew I couldnt trust a gnome riding a black dragon. Black dragons aint nice!
btw, you dont want to know my reaction when I figured this little puzzle out
****************
Cursing, Yakal drifts a bit higher, trying at least to get some cover from branches and leaves, then he releases another magic missile
"No use talking then. You're as good as dead now anyway."

The missiles deal 13 points of damage to the minotaur.
He slams his sword into his sheathe, pulls his bow off and fires another arrow at you, which slices open the edge of your arm as it flies by.
You take 3 points of damage.
*******************************************
Oh, thats ok.
I'm hoping the other two can learn from how you dealt with this one with just one attack spell seeing as they only know of this kind of thing from video games. Those odd spells help out a
lot in keeping you alive don't they?

And taunting minotaurs while staying out of reach is so much fun
In civilised areas flying is too obvious, so thats where spider climb is for. I usualy tweak my character to be 'power play' without being too obvious (improved invisibility takes care of visual, still spell of movement, silent spell of sound, pretty undetectable).
*********************
Getting a bit impatient, Jakal again casts magic missile while muttering
"why dont you just drop dead alright."

The missiles hit the minotuar in the face, scoring bright marks all over.
You deal 13 points of damage.
He fires off two more arrows at you, hitting with one, and missing terribly with the second.
You take 3 points of damage again.
He curses and grumbles
"Those idiots had better finish off the others and come this way soon!"

"dont worry about your friends, they will wait for you in hell. Worry about yourself, you're terribly bad at shooting arrows. What did you use for practise target, a mountain?"
With an evil grin, Jakal fires another magic missile

50 damage by now, and getting more
is the clearing still (a bit) visible from where I fight?

You deal 9 points of damage to the minotuar, bringing him to his knees.
Growling, he fires off two more arrows at you and strikes with both of them.
You take 8 points of damage, 5 + 3 from the two arrows.
******************************************
65 to be exact.
The clearing, no. You can see dim movement, but your about 100 feet into the forest and there's too many trees to see beyond glimpses of shadows at the edge of the treeline.

With a violent armthrust Jakal once again unleashes a volley of magic missiles. The he pulls out a healing potion and quickly swallows it

I was more wondering if those on the clearing could see me

You fire off 3 more missiles which strike the minotaur and drop him to the ground.
You deal 10 points of damage, leaving him grievously wounded.
He pulls out an arrow and fires it off at you. He misses, and groans in pain as you see he's bleeding more while he brings himself to his feet.
You swallow the potion and are healed 11 points of damage.
**************************
See you, no you're too high up the trees are blocking their view of you. They can hear whats going on though.

Which other offensive spell but magic missile does one need? up to a max of 5d4+5 damge and always a hit, hitting incorporeal, partly conceiled and armoured types the like. only a shield spell (and globes of invulnarability) stop them
The bastard still lives.....
thanks for the info

With a superior smile on his lips, Jakal fires another batch of magic missiles, confident this skirmish will be over soon

You fire a volley of missiles at him and it drops him dead to the ground instantly.
You deal 10 points of damage.
His bow drops from his hand, and you notice strange script written on the armor around the etchings of the lily's. It's very finely crafted, along with his sword.
*******************************************
It is a wonderful spell yes.
Yeah, I decided knights with the right feats work wonders at keeping mages busy.

Jakal quickly casts invisibility again and starts searching the corpse. Sounds of battle do reach him (probably), but the others should be able to take care of themselves.
(*if anything small is found, like rings, coins, potions, jakal keeps them. Not big things though*)
After this, he reloads his crossbow and stalks (floats) towards the clearing
**********
I like puzzle like things too, which make for creative spell use (magic missile to push a button), especialy since it doesnt take this much effort. Watch it next time! I might sweat
always fly as low as possible, the spell might end. and in a forest, dodging branches is annoying, so is bumping your head

You find this:
Bastard Sword
Tower Shield
Half-Plate
Long Bow
A quiver, with 11 arrows left in it.
While searching him, you notice a ring on his forefinger. A simple, large, steel ring, but with the phrase "Independance breeds chaos, submit and be strong." etched into the band.
You earn 2,400 experience for killing the minotaur, and 100 for interogating him and getting information out of him.
You see the battle still progressing, the skeleton's have taken a defensive course and are furiously parrying the strikes of the minotaur's surrounding them. The second officer is glaring at them and cursing for them to hurry while shifting around to stare into the trees with his hand on his sword hilt.
Oddly enough, the skeleton's seem to be able to hold their own while outnumbed like this. They don't seem hurt too badly at all.
***************************************
Heh, the challenges help you find out whats going on and keep things interesting.

=> Jakal leaves weapons and armor, but slips the ring in a pocket
*****
Now I am going to wait for the others. Its not fair to kill them all myself
throwing a fireball bead in the melee is probably not a good idea anyway....

Fair enough and yeah, that could cause problems.
Well then, hopefully Blake at least can join in sometime soon and then DZ when he gets back. The three of you have the spells and everything to make quite the team if you work together.
The problem is timing and stuff like that.

Can you give me a brief summary of where my character happens to be? If you want you can just start me off somewhere, besides where I left off.

Blake, Kaleb is running towards the melee, roughly 120 feet distant. You, you're familiar and Aladine are hasted. You have not been spotted yet do to glare from the sun. Your group is in somewhat of a fold in the ground, that mixed with the glare makes you seem like just obstacles in the way. However, you see the group down the field clearly given the opposite view and the sunlight glinting off of their equipment.
You see your two skeleton allies in the center of 6 minotuars, with another fondling his sword in the background in black armor. The skeleton's look worn, but your previous spells to protect them are still (barely) functioning and have kept them relatively safe.
