Not really unique. I've see this one used by many people in the past.

8.5/10, Much better, simple but I like it's trippy effect!

@ Siberys hmmm, yeah I can get used to it, but always found the 'can-can' girl easy to recognise. Maybe if we all live with it for a while...

@ Bluesky, thank you! Don't know where you found the pic of the cat, but it really is appealing. 9/10

I like Avane's mermaid. It is unusual and classy looking. 9/10

That is the avatar Siberys had when I first joined the forum, but for some reason I thought it was blue. I usually have such a good memory for "faces", too...

I like to change my avatar pretty frequently. This new one is from a painting by Georgia O' Keefe: A sunflower from Maggie.

It was blue, the piggy that is, I just used a black and white version now. The only other avatar I could use with this (Without modifying it myself that is) is a non-modified image, white background with a flesh colored piggy, and that just wouldn't look awesome.

But otherwise, I have blue, Red, B&W, and Dark Green.

Hey Kathy, thanks for the thumbs up on the mermaid. I like her too.
Anything by Georgia O'Keefe is good with me. Hadn't see A sunflower from Maggie before. Will have a closer look on a gallery site. 9/10. [still love your avatar from l/o/l... especially when she said one time "uh oh..." It was seriously  it was you]. I think she would rank a 10. But Sunflower is gorgeous. :) .

What is it? A fish? Anyway, I like it's overall shape and balance.
10 points!

I say the avatar is quite good, looks classic, about 50,000 miles I'd say. Doesn't help with deciding the gender of poster though, so only 8/10.

I like it. Anything wearing a top hat is cool.

Eek, I have to edit, I posted too slow. Sorry, I know I just rated DesR85 just a few days ago, but the squirrel still rocks. (and that's good.)

Craig's avatar reminds me of the Cat in the Hat from Dr. Seuss. Sort of like a ferret in a hat, though...

Hi Avane, do you mean the "registered oopser"? She is kind of goofy looking, but good news...according to google, she is not her verbal gaffes. :p (the stupid name thingy thread, here in SYM).

@ Craig: def The cat in the hat Dr Seuss, so points for the fantasy aspect. The visual is pretty spot on too, so 8/10

@ Naffnuff: Interesting...she was the voice of Apollo, right? Pythia, like in "pithy statement". Okay, perhaps not. 8/10

@ Craig: Very curious, why do you want to know the gender of the poster? And why did you down-grade Naffnuff for being ambiguous?

Not a bad hypothesis at all, though I noted your irony. Of course, Pythia is related to Python, the great chthonic dragon slewn by Apollon.

As to the etymology of pith, I quote from OED:
[OE. piþa, radically agreeing with MDu. pitte, MLG., LG., WFris., EFris., Da. pit pith of a tree or vegetable, kernel of a nut, etc. (cf. pit n.2):—WGer. type *piþon-, *piþþon-, represented only in the Low German group. The later development of sense is found only in Eng.]

However, I always leave the benefit of the doubt. After all, the Phoenicians did sail all the way up to Cornwall long before Hannibal had even tried on his first pair of snow-shoes.

And, by the way, anyone who really needs to know my gender can check out the anatomy thread. I never thought of avatars as having to be representative of that. Am I to assume that Avane is a mermaid, too?

Exactly what I'm saying Naffnuff. Waiting for Craig to explain his comment
Doesn't help with deciding the gender of poster though, so only 8/10.
[Realise going a little off subject with this query to Craig;, but it is an interesting comment and might be worth following up]. At any rate Naffnuff I thank you for your informed and informative answer.

Back to the subject at hand
@DesR85: I kind of miss your 'lonely sentinel' at dawn [or dusk]. But, popular opinion...

Hmmm, yes, why does it have to represent a gender at all?.....
Like Magelord's does it matter....

@ Avane...don't worry...DesR85 has many theme related avatars.
