IMHO the police is premature
I'm inclined to agree. Not to mention how weird it sounds to be calling from an Internet Board...

If we haven't heard anything from him by the end of say a month though... Then it might be something to think about...

I know a month feels like a long time..
But, we may have been able to exploit other avenues over the next four weeks. Also, it's unlikely we can actually do anything, regardless of what we find out... This is more about just knowing what has happened to him..

Ik,
Now you are really making me angry.
As has been stated, there are good reasons to be concerned.

As far as your juvenile little rhyme goes, don't be such a damned idiot!

Look i am not sure how much you guys know about Magrus, but yes his condition is something very much to be concerned about. Atleast it is for us as we do like magrus and are concerned.

Ik I have never complained to buck about any member, but making you the first one does have a nice ring to it. If you don't know what is going or or you aren't concerned sod off.

Calling the police is very premature. I would wait for more concrete information. I mean who spoke to Mag last on MSN, who knows the most about his location and general life.

Before we get way ahead of ourselves, because i am guessing but i am 40% certain we could be breaking some laws in the US. Tracking someone down for whatever good intentions is still invasion of privacy and with the current regime in power i am certainly not in the mood to find out about some obscure law in the US penal code.

I say wait for a few days and gather general information about magrus. Wait for Sol who has his number to show up. If anybody has Sol's number, e-mail or MSN please inform her to contact us.

Out of all the numbers called did we get any leads whatsoever? I mean nothing? No forwarding address no mention of when they saw Mag last?

Shhh, don't get offended!

It reassures you to know how magrus is doing and it reassures me to say that it could very well be not-as-spectacular as it might be in your expectations/imagination.

I encourage your quest. I hope he'll reappear soon.. The world is so big and magrus is so tiny. I think it's an achievement to find him.

I agree about being cautious....
I wish I knew more about US Internet Law.

I'll wait before trying to call his ISP again. Waiting to hear from Sol first does make sense.

No, all of the numbers (there were about 4) were apparently out of service.

Patience is the key here :) As I said, he seems to have a close bunch of friends who can look out for him, if he needs it. I doubt we are his sole hope of help. Waiting for Sol seems the wisest at the moment.

I happen to have lovely access to several medical service. Why am I not using them? I tend to want to stay out of jail, number 1. Number 2, they are for cancer victims, so will be no use. Number 3. It is unethical. Number 4. That is private information, which I would rather not touch. And many more reasons... I am sure that anyone else on here in the medical field would agree with me; do it and die, basically. Not that I would condone doing it if it was legal anyways.

I worked my butt of, and have now memorized everything from Mags server location and specs right down to anything personal that Mag has disclosed to the Internet. My SO is not in a good mood, as the phone cut off in the middle of an important sentence to an emergency.

I worked 8 hours last night, and am tired. No need for anyone to be hostile in any way... ;)

Actually, many of us know a lot about others. I even know a alot about DW, and could probably find out where she lives in about two minutes from any location with an Internet connection by using 411.ca. Given my digging of past threads I can even discern a certain amount about Fiona, and a little about you. Kind if scary.

Anyways, Fas, I would search for anyone with a medical condition who is a frequent visitor, who I know, and suddenly disappears with warning.

Anyways, I have checked the new York times, and am heading off soon to do so again.

You may have a point, but DW knows his name from GMail and I know his IP address, along with DW now, thanks to T. I already dug around his server, but did no illegal function. I am not a Internet master of much of a computer user; anytime that it says I am entering a private area I leave, and I immediately dig no farther upon reaching restricted areas or firewalls. If they left it open for us to find, such as a name search site, then it isn't illegal, we are merely looking up his phone number.

Also, we knew that he worked at one of several thousand McDonald locations. Posting a list wont be a problem, and we are keeping all personal information, such as names and IPs, off the forums.

I missed a little bit of work here, but I already know much of what is going on, since I was one of the first who tried to find him, along with Cuch and DW, as well as Fiona. IMO what we have done is not illegal.

Although, considering that this place is based in the states, you can never know the obscurity of the laws...

We already have a long list (which DW has sent to everyone who knew already pretty much everything we know about Magrus, and posted stuff here) of items that have been recovered. For a while we pursued the idea that he lives in Virgina, but I should have paid more attention to the Rochester part I saw. Instead we found his ISP's server.
Out of all the numbers called did we get any leads whatsoever? I mean nothing? No forwarding address no mention of when they saw Mag last?
DW tried calling one of the places, and a person with a heavy Hispanic accent answered. She barely understood much of it...

Anyways, I tried contacting his old ISP and nothing has happened, so DW may be staying by the phone for a while. Or the computer.
I am stunned at all the info we dug up! By 'we' I mean 'someone here other than myself'- I certainly don't have any idea how they got that info.
He posted in Non-RPG Discussion and SYM, therefore we already had his IP, and T gave it to DW, thanks to her. I just used it to find some stuff, nothing to deep.

DW used his GMail name. We both found our information from publicly well used sites.

Actually, most of the addresses belong to what DW found, I just tended to send her information I could gather, like vague locations she could try, ect, fro information off of this board.

@ Lestat: His time, last posting occurred at the 5th of Oct, I thought.
Luis wrote:I only know what his location. I have long forgotten his name....not sure what it is. But Rochester was the place me mentioned. Now the question is can DW and Hill contact him at either one of those places? Or does anybody have the contact information of his friends or family? E-mails would work as well.
We tried:

Gmail
Yahoo
MSN
and Dw tried some photo site or something.

Anyways, two were inactive and the yahoo one I tried has yet to respond.

I remember hearing something about a birthday bash and Halloween bash that will last ten days. It has been 14.
Luis wrote:He was meant to change town because of a new job, so I believe he's not in Rochester.
His IP from just moving is to Rochester. I have his old one as well, and am digging up correlating information. However, nothing really important... I found that servers location again...

Anyways Fiona and Lestat's holiday dates coincide with the change of IPs.
I know I'd be pretty disconcerted if a bunch of people at GB who didn't know many of my personal details tracked me down.....
In my case, it would be impossible. ;) People had an experiment a while ago, trying to track down people they knew from a long time ago. Apparently, they called all over Europe looking for me, since at one time my server was routed through there, and then called all over Canada.

I am a hard man to find, luckily I have not given my name, other than my last, so perhaps DW could find me, and maybe CE if she searched for the right keywords. No one here knows if 26 IS my actual age, and some suspect me of being older. Only two emails can be used to currently find me.

I was surprised that we found so much on Maggie so quickly. We even have a picture of him with long hair from the SYM Photo Album.

I tried contacting some of the officials in Herndon, but all my messages to there emails were blocked, and an email was sent back that Spam would not be excepted. It appears that one of the keywords is IP, I p, I P, I.P., well, you get the point...
If mags Internet IS down, isn't it likely that his phone may also be down?
I don't think his ISP does phones, but they may. I don't it, however.

I think Cuch, Athena, or OS should contact him, as they have his phone number, to see if he is all right, as soon as possible. You don't have to sound all worried, just ask if Magrus is their, and see what he is up to. :D

Off to the New York times, then.

Hill, you and DW have done a lot of the work. I can't really help because I don't have the skills. But I'm up for leg work if there is any. Let me know.

As far as legality is concerned I am convinced we have done nothing wrong. It's all public and no-one has used any specialised information as far as I know.
I can even discern a certain amount about Fiona

It just occurred to me. Does Rochester county have a local paper? Might be better than the NYT. I really have to go to bed but if you don't have time I can search tomorrow, late evening. Sorry to suggest even more work. Quick check showed lots. Papers seem to be very local in the US. Does Amsterdam ring a bell with any one in connection with Magrus ? Only I think it does and there's a paper from there

Well the reason you can't find out much about me is because I post from the UN. So that gives me a lot of security :D But i am honestly not worried about private information. Whatever you can get get off the net you can already get off the forums.

I certainly do hope Magrus is ok.

* I have a list of the McDonald's around Rochester which I found using Google Maps. It was very helpful. If anyone wants it, I can send pass it along. Or, you can just go to Google Maps.

*The place I tried to call last night was a McDonald's in Virginia, the town where the headquarters of his ISP is located. Turns out that was a red herring, as Hill has mentioned, so not being able to understand the woman was not a big issue ultimately.

*The number for his new ISP works, but they close at something like 5:30 EST. I can try calling back though... but I'm inclined to wait until we hear from somebody who has some concrete details.

*Photo Site? That wasn't me...

*Cuch doesn't have his number; He tried calling some of the likely numbers that came up in my searches; they were all out of service.

*Athena has his old number... but even that would be very helpful

*Oscuro Sol is rumoured to have his recent number and to know the most about him...
So.. we are waiting on her...

DW Magrus is most likely ok. Give it a little time to see what others have to say and what other information people can give or bring. Sol is the main person right now. Lets see what she can say or do.

LOL, Chim. :D

Although I wouldn't let you lead that operation, or it would never get done. :D

Searched the entire NYT website. Nothing on our good man Magrus. A good sign, nothing has happened to him... if he has been hospitalized, he hasn't showed up in the Obituaries.

I think, personally, that the Rachel birthday bash-slash-halloween bash lasted too long, and he is still recovering. Or, he could simply be lurking.

Or, he could be severly injured, but you never know... that quote that Luis gave said that he was heading off for 10 days to party (if that even happens, people tend to overstate things) and it has been 14...

Whats scary is that I can even track down OS too... considering I know which quadrant of Calgary she lives in, and her age range (its impossible to know anyones age, so I just call them ranges), and other things as well... :p

@Hill

Excellent work. I'm getting more credit in this than I deserve- I just called a few dead numbers.

@Fas

The numbers were completely out of service, no other info given. Dead ends all around

btw- I got my fix. Try Banjara for Indian food. On the corner of 6th st and 1st ave. Stellar cuisine.

I'm off to bed. I hope he's okay, and I think sleeping on it might be a good idea for all involved.
