Nice. :)

Your spell does further damage to the creature. It looks really angry now...

The creature attacks Sess and manages to bite him for 7 damage.

S'hrarn delivers a thrust at the creature that fails to connect.

Sess retaliates and hits with his Greatsword dealing more damage.

Your turn.

It looks close to death now.

The wolf-like creature attacks Sess again and it's bite injures Sess for 10HP. He looks close to death now too.

Sh'rarn's strike fails to hit.

Sess hits the beast again, delivering the killing blow.

Combat over.

*Casts Heal on Sess*

1d20 = 17.

"Now, Sh'rarn, what did you say about having a note from the goblins? It could prove useful if I were to dicepher it."

[I'm guessing an animal wouldn't have anything, so I will not do a search check]

While Kron moves towards Sh'rarn to have their discussion, Halgrath leaves Kazar and starts attending to the big warrior Sesshomaru. Despite his griveous injuries, he stills managed a friendly smile back.

"Easy there big guy...you're as fine as any warrior i've ever seen". Halgrath starts casting another spell to quickly close the gaping wound on Sesshomaru. The bite mark was still there, but the bleeding has stopped and should heal completely soon.

Afterwards, while Kazar went to Sesshomaru's side Halgrath out of curiosity was checking the carcass of the wolf-like creature. As is the practice of his people, sometimes the pelt of such great game would make a nice item, or at least fetch a good barter.

Cast another Cure Light Wound, heals 1d8 + 2hp. Is there any roll for me to check the wolf? Or is it even an animal at all? :D

edit: wolf > wolf-like

I should have clarified, Sess was close to unconciousness rather than death so Heal would have a limited effect (it wouldn't need to stabilise him).
The wolf-like craeture was a Worg and it does indeed have treasure...which I'll have to work out in addition to XP. I'm not sure about the pelt value though.

If anyone feels that their character is getting too low on HP or memorised/castable spells, you can say and rest outside the cave.

It turns out that the wolf-like thing that attacked the party was actually a worg, a magical beast more intelligent than normal wolves. It did has some treasure with it, so Halgrath was glad that old habits do die hard.

After taking whatever that could be useful later, Halgrath made his way back to rejoin the party. Kron looks still engrossed with the insignia, trying to decipher those strange wording...if that is possible.

"My friends, shall secure our position in this room? Or shall we come out to the camp site? My heart is uneasy as any enemies could still appear out from nowhere, and still they can. I fear them not, but we could easily be overwhelmed in sheer number"...

..."And my hope to you dear dwarf, is that we all stick together...unless common sense dictates otherwise"
Halgrath looking at Kazar.

"I'm not sure how defensible this place is, both room s so far have two entrances, an easy way for enemies to sneak up on us while we sleep".

(Check the map link a few pages back for the current view)

@DJV, roll Knowledge (Arcana) to identify the note - 1d20+ your skill.

Each party memeber receives an extra 600XP from the latest rounds of combat. You can add this to your character sheets.

You recognise the note as a dialect of Orcish, with a few arcane phrases thrown in here and there, presumably to deliberately make it harder to read. While you can get the gist of it, you are unable to fully identify it.

To da Boss,
We cleared out this camp and took da weapons and metal like ya said. We're going back to
<unintelligible> now. We expect our <unintelligible> for our services. Ye'd better pay up quick or our chief'll be wantin' revenge! Even ye couldn't stand against dat!
Oh, we ready for the next thing too. Just like ye asked!
These dwarves were easy, hardly worth our time!

The note is then signed by whatever passes for such a creature's signature, more an illiterate scribble than a mark of identification.

Kazars anger was building up, he wanted to swing out at what looked like the smug faces of his companions, but common sense took over this time, he waited patiently until they had finished with the note, "Can I have it back?" he ased, knowing it was his 'precious' he liked the look of it and would probably stick it up on the wall when he reached home, if he reached home

"Why would you want this note, you cannot even read the text, so it is of no use to you. I think it would be best if I were to keep this and ponder over the missing pieces of information, that way we could gain the benefits of my knowledge, rather than you just gawking at it like a commoner." Kron was grinning to himself, this would teach that ignomatic dwarf a lesson.

Now, I suggest we move back outside and camp, that way we will have a much more defensible position, and we will not be in the goblin's home environment."

"I am not eager for any more combat for now, to be honest. Like what Kron said, the goblins could be operating from inside this cave. Judging from the note, they seems well equip too"

Sh'rarn and Sterwick nod their agreement and you all exit the cave and walk back to the nearby dwarven wagons (or what's left of them).
Rugnar approaches you, "One of me kin suddenly left while ye were gone, at first we thought he'd been abducted by the monsters, but he took everything he owned. Could ye keep an eye out for him?"

The adventurers rest a while recovering all their HP and re-memorising spells.

Sh'rarn walked up to the two of them, "Is there a problem here?"
Looking at Kazar, "the goblins may be better targets for your wrath, you know."

Halgrath noted the tension arising between Kazar and the rest of them, but as with the rogue Sterwick he too does not wish to get involved unless necessary. He prefers too keep most of his opinion to himself if unasked for. The warrior Sesshomaru at least seems more leveled-headed than Kazar, which is good for the party as Kazar seems more willing to listen to him. Perhaps they had been journeying long enough and earned each other's respect.

On the other hand, the paladin looks to have earn the respect from everyone, even from the group dwarves that had earlier attacked them. He doesn't look to be too eager to be 'the' leader, unlike some overzealous type than Halgrath had seen in the city of Waterdeep.

"Now that we are all refreshed, do we continue from where we let off yesterday? I don't know about the missing dwarf, but at least we could try to get to the bottom of the mystery by clearing the cave"
