Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it
The task only says compare the popular music of today with the ballads from the middle ages. So it doesn't have to be from 1500-1700. (1700 begin a little to late).

Now I'm confused. The middle ages ends around 1500, I think. Did your teacher give you any examples of the kind of thing that's meant?

Nope, but I just found the task in my book, and it said during the middle ages.
I'll ask her tomorrow.

Well good luck with that. But during the Middle Ages sounds strange, I never knew that era was particually famous for songs...
Anyway, I'm going to cruise, night all.
And Fiona, good luck understanding your fellowcountryman

Good idea to ask her. It's a lot harder for the middle ages. If that is what's required you might like (sorry, that's not very likely, but you know what I mean) to narrow it down a bit. The Border Ballads are just arguably within the period, and they are a limited study. I think DJ's suggestion of narrowing the modern field down to rap might be good if you decided to compare ballads with modern music. Ballads are essentially stories, and I think rap is often that too ( I could be wrong). Of course it depend how big a project this is
There are a lot of sites about the Border Ballads, so it isn't hard to get material
You could start here,if you were interested.

Lyrics are here. Don't know any sites where you can hear the music but there are a lot of recording so I'm sure there are some

I wants helps I mean... damn, yesterday I went to the best party ever. Damn. Very good very good. Lots of drinks, friends, discussions... but I'm tired as hell and my dog wont let me sleep, he keeps calling me on the window no matter what I tell him.
What should I do?

Bribe a family member to take the dog out?

Maybe he's lonely. I still say get someone to go out with him. Is it warm where you are? Maybe you could take him somewhere (short walk, you're in the country, yes) and then sleep when you get there once he's distracted by rabbits or whatever.
Sounds like you had a good time. I hope you didn't keep the neighbours awake...

We live in a farm, Fiona, he has thousands of options, playing with the neighbor's dog included. The poor guy loves me, and I like him very much, but hey, if he wants to come sleep by my side I wont care, now he would keep biting my hand till I go out with him to run behind the chickens.

Nah, I woke up, wont go back to bed now. Unfortunately.

And where could you quarantine a pervert on this site, pray?

We could remove his posting privileges on SYM

That'd be evil

Careful, Luis. If you remove the posting privileges from every homicidal maniac here, there'll be no-one to talk to. We have to keep a sense of proportion.
BTW do you have a clean up squad at the HBI? there's an awful mess there, and a lot money littering up the place.

by Luis Antonio
You are right, as usual, my dear. But It'd be fun, just to think about people looking to SYM with trembling hands.
I will go there. For now I'm watching, carefully. The worst thing that may happen is the HBI being shut down due to excess spam. You could quote my post, just to refresh the memory of those wankers.

Oh my. I'm having such a weird experience right now.
My vision is toying with me. It looks like I'm 3 cm in front of my computer screen, while in fact I'm a good 40 to 50 centimeters away! It's intriguing. Feels like I'm sucked into the forum. It's also very interesting to look at my background. Almost feels like I'm right there. ('alas', it's no naked lady.)
What does that tell me? It tells me I need sleep, I think. Or it tells me the internet wants me to become a computer designer. Perhaps I am the chosen. No, definitely sleep.

Asking the same question, only with the strategic removal of a 't' and the addition of an 'm'.

Good point, Hill. I meant no offence.
