ps can anyone remember what movie that's from? Is it Shaolin vs Lama? I really can't remember...the next time they meet he says something like 'you're a tough guy - we've met before  :D ;) )

I've just got back from seeing The One, Jet Li's new movie...
ooh ho I can't stop making all my movements in a weird kerky way accompanied by 'hwaaaaAAHs and other ejaculations of martial pugnatiousness. Classic line from the movie:

'I'm going to kill you.'
'No you're not.'

*sigh*..what a script! *eyes glaze over as frogus gazes whistfully iunto the middle-distance*

Hey, I thought it was quite a good movie, all things considered. If noone minds having any SPOILERS, I really loved the bits where:

He crushes the cop with two motorcycles he's just picked up.

Good Jet Li catches bad Jet Li's axe...on his foot, in the final battle.

In same battle, the bit where one of the Jet Lis hooks one foot round the others head, then repeatedly kicks him in the head with the other.

All in all, I thought that at the beginning, the plot was abysmal and the action was good, then as the film went on the plot bits got better and so did the action. I was a bit distracted by hearing bits of Papa Roach songs through the battles though, but overall I thought that the film was a good kung-fu movie.

Kind of makes you long for the eloquence of a Godzilla movie. Image

yeah...the soundtrack was ****...anyway

I thought the bit with the motorbikes was dumb  . The graphics looked apaaling!! anyway it was a quality movie, I love the way (similar to Zen in a way) Jet Li is constantly trying to jump out of the system and break down cliched Kung-Fu movie stereotypes, but his movies just get chock-sock after chock-sockier... . Bless 'im.

Yeah I loved the final fight too...that was mean with the flipping over the bars   . I liked the fight with the first (black) Multiverse Agent too, he was just so massive but still Jet Li was kicking seven shades of buggery out of him  :D :) .

It could have been an interesting movie as well (although in the end the plot was as thin as a rake  ) I thought that they could have done an interesting ending, to make it more relevent to Buddhism and Karma etc, where they thought it would 'destroy the balance', but actually it would be revealed that the strings of life-force are constantly shortening, lengthening and snapping, and that it just had to be that way, and it was part of a cycle.

Also they should have ended on the Jet Li vs Jet Li fight, with the two Li's somehow working themselves into an inescapable stalemate. They would carry on fighting for ever, one Li trying to upset the balance, one trying to enforce it...but in the end cancelling each other out. That way the could have had an interesting and symbollic Yin-Yang, Eternal-Warrior, Harmony In Dischord ending that wouldhave been better than the more heven/hell thing that they did go for...I think it would have been good to blurr the line between good/evil, and just be left with the more ambiguous greed/selflessness...anyway, will shut up now..

Just forget all that crap and watch Godzilla crush some buildings and scare people. It's much more entertaining (and destructive). Image

yeah, and godzilla plots are so much better - Godzilla Vs. Wierd Mechanical/Bio-Engineered Thing Sent By Time-Travelling Aliens!

Watch two laughably implausible rubber costumes beet seven shades of sh...ugar out of a model of Tokyo (that looks strangely like the one where he teamed up with the giant spaceship against that mutated moth that breathes poison etc. etc...)

[happy sigh]

Kaiju rocks. The folks that made the CGI Godzilla just didn't get it. The hokiness is part of the fun. Image

Anybody remember that X-Men arcade game that six people could play at once? Man that thing was way fun! It was like a party every time people played! Image Pigskins was awesome too (it was a medieval football game Image ). Too bad none of these game are available on any console systems or emulation (and most arcades don't even have them anymore Image).

Wow, my Frogspawn curse has damned my adventuring party! Image Two members of my posse (SS and AR, respectively) are now banned! Coincidence or conspiracy? Or maybe I just attract a bad element (Just kidding guys, if your watching). Image It was fun while it lasted, but nothing lasts forever (heh, I'm not even a frog anymore, as of this posting). Image
