Well, it seems that when all lights had gone out, the Packers still managed to win the NFC north. Kind of funny that a team can be in first place, all season, and still lose the division. The Vikes, (or queens, as us wisconsin expatriates who now live in Minnesota like to call them) were in commmand of the division from the opening kick in green bay back on September 5th all the way until time ran out in the Arizona game. But hey, sorry, you still don't get to win the division.
The media had a field day with all of it and unfortunately, I missed most of it as I was spending Christmas with the family in Kentucky (extra added note: how sweet is it for Louisville to roll into Rupp arena and dust the number 1 wildcats) and didn't return until december 30th to Minneapolis. However, I still found the newspaper and local sports radio talk show hosts reeling over the defeat, much to my amusement.
Kudos to:
The Packers, who hung in there all season and played great down the stretch barring a bitter loss to Philadelphia on Monday night football and the 'assassination' in Detroit on thanksgiving day. They took the division championship away from the vikings as much as the vikes handed it to them. History shows that when the vikes backs are against the wall, they'll find a way to lose.
The Tuna, who has led a dismal squad to a wild card berth. Not sure why this man's name isn't mentioned more for coach of the year.
Bill Bellichek, who directed a bunch of non pro bowl players into producing the best record in the NFL this year. Woe to all who travel to foxboro in january.
The Carolina Panthers and John Fox, who scooped up the pickup of the year in Stephen Davis and finally got to enjoy a healthy defense for a full season. Have fun losing to Dallas.
Jeers to:
The Washington Redskins. Such Jeers requires a new post or perhaps even a new thread but from top to bottom, they're the worst. Like a beaten dog with no cahonis, Spurrier tucks his tail and runs away. What an f'n coward and loser. Hiring him was a bad idea in the first place but how can you turn tail and run after two years. Hell, all he needed was another six games next years and Snyder would've fired him.
Hope all who browse and participate in this thread had a swell holiday. My own was perfect except for the lack of snow in Kentucky. Just doesn't seem Christmas w/o snow on the ground, however, it did hit 60 degrees a couple of days which is far nicer than the cold up in MN.

Well, due to vacation time and visiting relatives, I wasn't able to watch any of the games. Looking at the scores, there seems to have been a lot more excitment than I would have thought. But there were also a few upsets, like the Cards, the Browns, and the Lions.
I had hoped to have 170 wins at the end of the regular season, so that I could at least claim 10 wins per week on average. I fell 5 games short. But there were a large number of tough weeks, which really killed me. In my office pool, I was never really in the running, though I did win one weekly pool. I hope I can do better next year. I think I'm starting to get the hand of this football stuff, and the indepth analysis that SYM and DCI has provided has really helped. Still, its on to the playoffs!

I don't think McNair, as good as he is, can carry the entire team all the way through the playoffs, and they have no running game. Baltimore will have the ball around 35-40 minutes of the game, Controlling the clock, playing defense, the same way they went to the Super Bowl a couple years ago.
Panthers over Dallas.
Same deal, Dallas has no running game, and carter is too iffy to rely on. Dallas has the #1 defense, but they got it playing in the NFC East. And they got it early. Their front four is small, and people have been running well on them lately.
GB over Seattle.
GB is IMO the most dangerous team in the playoffs. Throw out the early games they lost when they had so many injuries, add in Green and Favre, and I wouldnt be surprised if this team goes to the SB.
Indy over Denver.
Yeah, Denver beat hell outta the Colts with a back-up RB, but there is no way that the Broncos defense is good enough to shut down the Colts offense like they did last game again. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong for Indy. Won't happen again I'm thinking.
Then again, my percetages sucked, so who knows?
