Truth be told, regarding Tamagotchis, I just find then weird.. Though typically Japanese in that they seem similar to Pokemon, Yugio etc. It is very much a Peter Pan culture in some ways.

What are they teaching you that you have to ask that?

@ DW. The leaders are just too valuable to risk so there is an element of protection. But it is largely to shoot stragglers, really. It is too embarrassing to shoot them in the back ( makes the letter to the family difficult, you know; and it is bad for morale)
