My friend listens to them too...I've heard acouple of there songs some good and some just not my cup of tea...I was just wondering what the hype was all about

System Of A Down is experiencing the same hype now IMO. A lot of people that usually don't listen to rock or metal listen to S.O.A.D.
That is not my style of music either
I wonder if you've ever heard neo classical rock/metal?

I do listen to S.O.A.D...but before it was hyped up....Im not too impressed with the new album that jsut came out...its called Hypnotised..its the completion of Mesmerize...I do like Mesmerize better...um Im not too good with the genre of music..I just listen to a lot of different types of it I dont knowwhat they are as far as rock,classical or whatnot....lets see what would Guns N Roses be? or the Scorpions?

It's a shame, that I've never heard any songs from Scorpions. So I can't tell you what genre they are.
I've heard people say that Guns 'N' Roses was/is Heavy metal, though I think they lack the vocals and the "heavy" style of play to be Heavy metal. They are some kind of Metal though IMO.

since fib is not here, i reply for him..
my first guess (that he would reply) is ManowaR! great band..
other heavy could be like... metallica is considerd heavy metal, and iron maiden to. and some more
other than that we have power metal (sonata arctica, rhapsody, helloween)

Oh I see..thanks...I have only heard of Metallica and Iron Maiden...Ill have to see if my friends know the other ones...especially ManowaR!

My mum likes the Beatles. She even got me to put two CD's worth onto an MP3 player for her.
I'm not a fan of them.
Let's see...stuff like Children of Bodom, ManowaR, Dream Theater, Yngwie Malmsteen etc.
