One of the things that makes this game great is that there's always something new to find. Glad I could help you with this one.

Okay, hopefully this won't be considered a gravedig.
I'm having a problem with Knox and this particular issue discussed here. I'm using the latest unofficial patch and in my previous playthrough I've managed, with a Tremere character (Perception 2, Intelligence 3), to notice the irregularities in his story.
I'm playing a Ventrue now and even with Perception 4 I cannot figure this one out.
Is this a bug of some sort or are Ventrue so short-sighted?
Thanks in advance.

I opened up the file and took another look. A Perception of 4 is high enough. It likes like a Perception of 2 might even be enough. The only thing clan has any effect on is that Malks automatically pass the check. The only other reason it wouldn't trigger is if Bertram has already told you about the plan. If you haven't talked to Bertram about Knox and the Asian vamp, then, yeah, it sounds like a bug. Try changing up your dialog choices a bit and see if you can get to it another way.

The problem with this dialogue is that you have to have enough Perception when entering the map...

Ah, I didn't know it was an on-entry check. Thanks. So you're saying you need a Perception of 2 before you ever enter The Asylum, is that right? And if so, then why is G.Bertram_Plant even checked? It's impossible for it to have changed before entering The Asylum as far as I know.

Yes, but I will change that in the next patch version.

This variable is only checked during the dialogue itself.

That makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Thanks for the reply, even though I managed to figure it out myself.
Pure luck.
