BTW My first BGI run was a Elf Fighter with the default NPC party.
My first BGII run was
PC: Human Berzerker
Jan/Imoen
Minsc
Jahiera
Nalia
Viconia
Need party advice
Yeah I'm almost at chapter 7 already 8). I'll think about replacing someone with Nalia for more magic.Jordoo wrote:Lilarcor, the sword you found under the copper corenet is saying those things. I find that Minsc and Lilarcor are well suited for each other of course Keldorn and Lilarcor seem funnier to me since you know it would drive Keldorn mad.
On your Party I think it could use a bit more majic power especially since Jan, Jahiera and your PC are multiclass and will gain spells more slowley.
How do you have Imoen so early in the game? Or did you already go and fetch her?
With Imoen and Jan you have all the arcane magic you'll need, and with Jaheira and yourself you should be fine with Divine too. You have a very well balanced party IMO, no need to change anything you don't want to. By now Imoen should have made up the shortfall and would probably be higher than Nalia by now.Psah wrote:Yeah I'm almost at chapter 7 already 8). Its probably not worth changing characters and developeing another NPC if your already in chapter 7. I generally don;t loike both of my arkane catsers to be multiclass early in the game because they level up more slowly but by chapter 7 they should more than powerful enough. I'm in the underdark with a group right now and they are already getting HLA's.
Once again time to give someone the boot to make room for Coran. LOL
I also like to have one single class mage/sorcerer, but with Imoen or Nalia that's really what you have. Dual classing at 6th or 4th level means that by the time you get into SoA with Imoen, or pick up Nalia the amount of XP spent on their thieves levels (40,000 for Immy and 5,000 for Nalia) is meaningless.
Shame the folk at Bioware screwed up dual classing them so badly IMHO. The second time I played through, with Imoen, I dual classed her in BG1, and was appalled at how they'd botched it, I hadn't taken any notice the first time as I wasn't playing her. Fortunately I had Shadow Keeper by then so was able to correct their blunders, and have done ever since.

I have to agree on the crappy job done on Imoen's dual class. And they basically do the same thing to Nalia, whats the point of dualing from theif if you don't have at least 85+ in traps and locks, especially when the experiance loss to the Mage class is negligable as you point out. I also always Fix Imoen right away at the beginning of every game, plus I usually change weapon proficiencies to my likeing for any character that I plan on keeping throughout.

My first time around was with the following party:
Keldorn
Anomen
ME(Gnome illusionist)
Aerie
Valygar
Jan
I switched Imoen for Jan because she died when I escaped the underground, otherwise I would have taken her in!
