Minsc can be great in the fight vs. Bhodi with the Mace of Disruption and another decent weapon to complement it. Minsc's species enemy is vampires... I think Minsc also has the best personality of the bunch although I personally think he should have been a Barbarian...

Minsc doesn't have a personality, he's just an one-dimensional joke, therefore he's so popular. All others have more depth and even a sidequest.

One that I happen to agree with. I personally found the mentally incapacitated hulking man with a teeny weeny hamster joke got very old quickly.

All right, the worst fighter is Minsc, what is the worst THief?

Nalia
Yoshimo
Imoen
Jan

Again I ask to explain why you have this opinion

Nalia. She's only an Imoen clone with less thieving skills. Yoshimo works best as temporary Imoen replacement when another caster is in the party since the party gets more XP from a higher level thief picking locks and finding traps. Ian is the best thief, he improves until the end and gets both thief and mage HLAs.

Can only be one answer to this IMO, Yoshimo, for reasons that would be obvious to anyone who's had him in the party when going to Spellhold. Best thief skills maybe, but they aren't a lot of use to you in the Underdark are they?

Personally I edit Minsc to a barbarian or a berzerker if I am going to use him for any length of time. He can't be a ranger with that wisdom score anyways. The only problem is that as a barbarian or berzerker either is a much better fit for his back story IMO. Remember though if you edit Minsc he should have 2 less proficiency points because Rangers get the 2 free ones in two weapon style.

As far as theif's go, Jan has to be the best because he is also an illusionist. I still remember how mad I was the first time through the game, all that time and effort spent on Yoshimo .............. I have to agree with Galraen and have Yoshimo as the least usefull. I probably have Imoen in my party the most for roll playing reasons and she is a very good mage.

Nalia is probably the worst thief in my opinion. There are too many thief/mage combos in this game and she really doesn't stack in comparison to Jan in that department, or Imoen even.

Yoshimo was my favorite character though, so I'm a bit biased. :p

I understand that you find Yoshimo a very usefull character, but who would you after spellhold

Again, certainly not Nalia. I would sooner take Imoen or Jan - though I don't particularly care for either one of them. Since Jan is the only "active-class" thief of those three he's usually the one I take. Imoen fell out of my favor early on in the game.

I personally cannot stand Nalia. She acts as if she is a kind and caring person, but her speech style betrays her wealth and arrogance. "Help the poor, I demand it!"

Also, I've recently forced myself to work with Anomen for a run-through. He's annoying as hell, but he holds his own.

I understand the fact that he is somehow a bit annoying, but in the end of BG2 and TOB he is so powerfull, isn't that very important?

Not to me, much rather have Aerie or even Vici, if I want a divine/fighter I'd rather have Jaheira (I only take her if I have a female protagonist though, can't hack her cradle snatching if it's a male).

He is a fairly good Cleric, and a passable fighter, but Viconia is better at spell-casting than him. She also has innate Drow magic resistance.

I never said that Anomen is a bad character. In fact, I said that he holds his own. Still, his obnoxious personality is a chore to deal with - I'm glad I don't play female protagonists or I'd feel pretty screwed over by the game's developers for making this guy the only female romance option(without mods).

Out of curiosity I did some research on Rashemen. Poor Minsc couldn't even take the Warrior of Rashemen fighter kit as they must have a wisdom of 10. The book states of Rashemen warriors battle tactics "Overwhelm the foe with sheer numbers or ferocity and then beat it to death :) "

Minsc should not be a ranger but he still isn't useless. It all depends on playing style. My vote goes to Cernd mainly because he doesn't fit into my play style very well....

Allright, we've discussed fighters and thieves, what about diviners?

Aerie
Anomen
Viconia
Cernd
Jaheira

What about them, I've seen alot of you don't like Anomen. But what about Jaheira, she can be a pain in the ass aswell. What do you think about divining power? Wich one is the best and the worst?

For me Aerie is without a doubt the best of the lot because she can cast Arcane spells and gets a but load of HLA's which she can chose from either pool every time no matter which class she leveled up in.

After that Viconia is the best pure cleric + drow magical resistance and the human flesh armor if your evil. Her spell casting ability as a cleric is much better than Anomen's Aerie's and either of the druids. I also actually enjoy her romance the most out of the three ladies, although since recently installing Amber and experiancing her romance they all stink.

As far as tanking its still Aerie because she can basically make herself imune almost any damage for a long time with her combination of cleric/mage spells. But in terms of bashing power Anomen easilly out classes Jahiera IMO and is also a better spell caster than her because as a multiclass druid Jaheira takes forever to level up the Druid side.

Oh yah and then there is taht Cernd guy ............

My Favorites in order:
Aerie: (Tired of her pitty me act though)
Viconia: (she is pretty exotic after all)
Anomen: (he should come with a muzzle)
Jaheira: (I like her with the sword and sheild style, but her romance kills me, all that work and then she finally going to be happy after getting some geesh! Maby if she would give it up sooner I wouldn't have had to listen to her complain and critisize me for 90% of the game.)
Cernd: Its too bad that his Werwolf abilities are so underpowered ehh whatever I still probably wouldn't use him.

The thing that gets me about Cernd is that when I have in my part I don't know how to use him....Do I have him in Wolf form (which I have patched so it's useful) so he can deal damage, and have one too many fighters, or do I drop him out and use him as heal-priest or artillery priest? And have one too many healers/artillery? Or do I swap him back and forth all the time? It's either confusing...or annoying.
