Ah! Gotcha! But... you did mean to link it to game Beholders, didn't you? As in: Neverwinter Nights: Beholder

More Baldur's Gate Beholder, it was meant as a joke within a joke. :D

Alchemists only instantly restock ingredients in Morrowind if they have a minus amount of that ingredient. Otherwise it takes a few days.

None the less Alchemy is an easy way to make money in either game.

I'm glad it was, galraen! I'd have felt such a fool if I'd got you wrong! And yeah, the Baldur's Gate Beholders were a better creation, imo, but the NWN one was the first I located.
Eh... and ain't it easy to drift way off-topic?!

I'm afraid it is with me, I'm for ever flying off at a tangent, and that's without smoking cannabis! I think I'm Fables worst nightmare.

Heheh! The only reason I'm not too (at the moment) is cos I haven't been in here for ages until just recently so Fable had no reason... Er... Hi! Fable :D

Yesssss........ alchemy... :D just don't have it in Major Skills, no matter how much you want to use only Mage skills for your pure Mage... Of course, on that point I chide myself!

Wondered if anybody would remember the thread. :D In Morrowind, I usually select Alchemy as a major, because otherwise I'll waste a lot of ingredients making potions before the skill rises. In Oblivion, it's a minor. At best.

I do this as well.

Though to be honest I don't find myself doing as much alchemy in Oblivion. It's a much more enjoyable pass-time in Morrowind while in Oblivion it just feels like a bit of a chore.

But there is no denying that Alchemy is a very useful skill in Oblivion. Provided you have the stomach to scour the landscape for the prerequisite ingredients.

I'm afraid that title would go to me once I get my spam engines up and running. Yahoo for inane banter. :D

Plus the ability to use all those negative potions on your weapons as poisons. That's one of the few things I really like in Oblivion.

This is unfortunately correct. Between you and your zombie army, the world stands poised to lose what few brain cells it has left before its arms are torn off and used as clubs. Sad, but true.

Not to mention coupling the poison effects to maximize damage output. I.e You can achieve multiple types of damage with the correct ingredients making a potent poison which would technically take out any singular opponent. Add to that a Weakness to Poison spell and you have a winner. (Very much like the lucky Italian who took the jackpot)

If I played a thief, I would be overjoyed at the ability to put cursed items onto the person of a sleeping enemy, or a weapon that's been "poisoned" with good boosting potions to hit you with. ;)

It's quite funny actually putting that into practice. Watching a not-so-innocent (facing charges over bad voice acting) NPC wear a cursed zero weight hood you reverse-pickpocketed into his inventory, and then proceed to be burned to death never gets old. Too bad that counts as a murder. Apparently the hood has got your fingerprints on it. Despite the ample padding and claws a pair of Daedric Gauntlets provides.

I especially like fire enchantments here. Nothing beats the roasting on a spit look.

That's twice you've posted something I agree with in the same thread, that must be against some law of nature!

Had great fun with an assassin character in Arcanum (using the ring you find in 'The Pond' doing that, wiped out Tarant, with the assistance of 'my' Orc army. Haven't managed to get it to work in Oblivion, although I have tried. Has anyone else succeeded?

Edit 2:
Too bad that counts as a murder.
Just read Loki's post, and yes that was my problem, anyone managed to overcome that bug?

PS See what a good boy I am Fable, editing instead of triple posting! :D

*wonders how a thread initially dedicated to Alchemy in Oblivion turned into a love-in between Galraen, Loki and Fable* :p
In Morrowind, I usually select Alchemy as a major, because otherwise I'll waste a lot of ingredients making potions before the skill rises. In Oblivion, it's a minor. At best.
I tend to select Alchemy as a minor in Morrowind. I'll spend the initial part of the game gathering ingredients, and usually, by the time I have huge stacks I also have a reasonable amount of gold.. so at that point I get Ajira to train me to her maximum ability (49 I believe), and then proceed to potion making. Alchemy is actually one of the only skills I train in MW, because I don't like wasting ingredients I've painstakingly gathered. Oh... and being able to train 10 sessions = 5 extra points of Intelligence when levelling... quite handy given that I generally play rogue/mage types.

As for Oblivion, that ability to coat weapons in poison is actually one of the few "improvements" they made that I actually like. It makes roleplaying a stealth character that much more enjoyable.

I have yet to find a mod that allows you to place positive enchantments on weapons. Frankly I didn't look too hard. But if you can locate one such mod, then by exploiting the summoned weapon glitch, you could technically create a zero weight weapon with a positive enchantment you could then reverse pickpocket into any unsuspecting enemy's inventory.
