Since my bro and I usually play in a party, and since he's a paladin, I've had the most success/fun with the Necromancer and Sorceress. But I prefer the Sorc, since she's got all those nifty elemental spells. Using frozen orb and chain lightning, while having thunderstorm and energy shield up is a blast (while teleporing to and fro, and having a hydra summoned).

And Zeal in LOD was limited to 5 hits, so you could never get stuck in a group. Not when you're taking less time to do those hits than a Barb takes to do one Concentrate with a Pike...
OTTOMH?

Well maybe youre right, because now that I come to think about it, I never really invested in either....usually it was just the all resist aura and the holy shock. I used Conc. when around enimies immune to lightning. So that was a rarity aswell.

Zeal, its only worth one level of effort. Still, Im not putting down zeal. I used it all the time.

All this stuff isnt that exciting though...I mean whether the paladin had the most potential to kick the enimies, it matters naught, because he wasnt as much FUN, IMO.

Off the top of my head - I think those stats are right, but it's been a year ;)

Well, it looks like you didn't play your paladin to the best of his ability. Your decision. Oh, and Zeal, as the best Paladin Combat skill, is ESSENTIAL to have 4 points in to get your 5 hits...even if your build is gonna be something else, the mana cost is so low you'll be switching back to it for health and mana leeching and recovery.

To each his own...I found the paladin to be the most fun class, because you have to have some skill when playing it rather than just clicking like mad...aura management is the most fun thing in D2, IMO...

I thought Thorns was always a good aura if points were invested in it.

Well have you actaully played with a paladin with a maxed out holy shock? Hmmmm?

Well I certainly didnt play/buy Diablo for the gaming or the skill. I baught it for entertainment and stress relief. I played BG1, BG2, and IWD the whole time. Thats when I was in my strategical moods and thinking. Was I in the mood for really thinking while playing DII? I sure as hell hope not. I needed some hack and slash action after another day in the trenches. But for the record, summoning was a big thing for me, as you can plainly see-druid and necromancer.

Yes. In fact, I defy you to name a viable build of paladin that I haven't played...The strangest, I think, was a Paladin concentrating on Might and Sacrifice...life leech was the key, but it actually worked. This was for an 8PT (8 Paladin Team - you all play different builds with different auras, to get maximum benefit) and we had heaps of fun.

Hit the quote button, which is next to the edit button on the bottom right side of the screen.

8PTs were always hard to keep up. trying to get eveeryone on at once AND wanting to play as a paladin.

Well I agree with the first point, anyway...we only managed to get as far as Act 2 Nightmare before we broke up and carried on our separate ways. We had a good time getting there though...and we were all from the same forum so it was easier to work out what we were going to do.

I went into our 8PT with the specific intention of playing a Martyr...it was something I'd never done before, and had only heard of one other person successfully building. What's the point in going into a team which will have everything you need and demanding that you have the best bits? Everyone had Zeal anyway, it's common sense. And once they had the auras maxed that we needed, they were free to do whatever else they wanted...

We always said: The point of an 8 paladin TEAM was that you work as a TEAM, which usually involves TEAMWORK. Shame your average Diablo II player has never played organized sports, so doesn't know what a support role is and why it's so important... :D
