Run your normal single player game, press enter, and type the following:

players 8

That will up the difficulty and experience as if you are playing unpartied in an 8-player game, decrease the number if the monsters get too hard but it shouldn't really be a problem with the large amounts of XP you get ;)

Do you need LOD to use that? I don't have LOD or any patches, so can I use it? Is there a patch I can download to use this?

I haven't a clue, but there's a good chance that it will work in D2 1.08 and later...

One gets used to it :D And apart from getting much more xp, you also get more item drops from monsters :)

If it gets too hard you can always do "players 4" IIRC or any other number inbetween 1-8

Keep in mind that some prefer 4 or 5 people because the item drop percentages kinda level off after that, when compared to the difficulty of the monsters. So 4 or 5 should be all right for killing efficiency and the item drops. Unless it's the beginning of the game, when everything is so easily killed in the first place. In hell it can get a bit more difficult. :D (just had to use a smiley)

The game's way too easy anyway - players 8 all the way for me, when i wasn't on Bnet :p
