If you go back to the entrance of the part where the music starts, there is a centaur normally. If you are able to lure back toxeus to this part, you will have the space to fight him. Also if you go down the stairs, this triggers toxeus to walk back, so you can recharge your health and try to hit him again.
You can repeat this and maybe then you are able to beat him.

Greatest farming area by far (spoilers)
This is by far, the best farming section of the game. It is also one of the most difficult to get through (in Epic). After trying your method several times successfully (thank you!), I have figured out how to get through on my own after initially having a friend team up with me a few times. I clean out all the other monsters and then cast my pets into the Murderers cage. It takes a little while, but I do not die this way. He is simply too fast and too strong when he is loose. Once Toxeous is taken care of, the rest are fairly easy. Though Nate is a tough one. He just walks around most of the time, but when he wants to hit you, he can one-shot kill you. Okay, me anyways. I let the pets do most of the work.
I have outfitted myself with some of Santa's outfit, but then moved on to the Detective uniform. I have a pirate outfit and a cowboy hat, as well. This has created a bunch of fun for me after grinding in this game for a while. I may never finish in Legend! ;~P

subject says it all. just tired of doing Hades runs and not getting it.
