Seems like spawning bugg, i havent encountered such myself. As for the pitfiends, if you have tactics, then the pit fiends can summon more pit fiends.

As for the equipment - aye, it is earthshaking. Especialy the robe of mystra .

I tend to use Thordek stuff, and the elven mage stuff that increases spell memorisation, other items are left there, cause its not fun to use them. Its like using Ctrl+R on yourself and Ctrl+Y on enemies ;)

I hope you have SCSII Ust'Natha? :)

Yes the spawning bug..... I ctrl + Y these pitfiends because it is no fun fighting fiends that summon new fiends that summon new fiends that summon new fiends although I was even fast enough to kill them. I think its ALLOWED to ctrl + Y them in TIHS case because its bugged.

As my decision about the stuff I got from spellhold I chose the Ione stone and a ring for more memorization. It isnt that cheese because it just makes you have more fun with more highlevel spells and dont have to rest after each battle because your have cast all your high level spells 6-9. This way my sorcerer got many spells resutling just in a better flexibility.
I choose one of the helmets too and the armor with improved hast for my thief (the only one who can carry it). As weapon decision I still argue weather to use the Long Sword +5 and the axe +5 (50% magic resist on weapon is HEAVY but too strong??) Atm I only use the sword... I chose the armor with +20% resist ALL too, well. I think what left is the awsome shield, the circlet, a clocke, some rings and of course the robe of mystra!!! (this item is a JOKE  ) Did I forgot some items? Hm, I just dont want to abuse the awsome items too much, game should still be a bit challenging...

Do you mean the improved Usth'Natha Defences??? (As I played last time I didnt see any improvements INSIDE of Usth'Natha itself) I got this installed. I it wont be hard, as my party got around 3.500.000 atm and I got the kensai/mage so will have 2 wild cards. ;)

Was Thordek the dwarf??? So your opinion must be similar to mine, since you use his equipment too. Thats good :D :D :D

Yes, i mean Impr. Ust'Natha Defenses. Keep in mind, that in v10 it does not work correctly (there are only 3 minor waves, and then it buggs out). Get v9 or v11 and experience the sweet fight for yourself :) (tho with 3,5 kk xp it should not be hard) And keep in mind that it only works when you charge head first into the city, attacking everything on sight (i tend to threaten the gatekeeper, easiest way that doesnt give me any advantage)

Yes. Shield with some resists, armor with Impr. Haste and nice helmet. So even warriors can survive something.

Side note : In future i'll add a quick guide on how to build sorcerer for purposes of listed mods (and all fights to be honest) cause its a class that does not allow any mistakes. I'll also update SCSII guide to v11 (its released) and will increase the sidenotes about tactics for players with spell revisions

Regards

If you have time Stworca, or anybody else interested, you could test out the battles of my http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/baldu ... 05717.html mod with a party, i'd really appriciate some feedback from a party playing perspective. I mostly play solo/mp but i'd still like my fights to be party doable/balanced to an extent, so if ya have time give them a try.

It should work fine with other mods Tactics/SCSII, aslong as you dont install the specific parts from other mods for the same battles, and install my mod on top of everything else, its not in Weidu installation, so its just uncompressing/unzipping the files to the override folder, well i explain it on the thread anyways.

As I tried the WS>>>Thief Combo with all the patches installed I feeled like having some bugs.

The Miscast ability didnt work on ranged as well as on mellee weapons!!!! Or I just didnt noticed....

Can i trie the abilities on my own characters? For example: attacking my sorcerer 10 times (healing him of course)??? He should misscast every spell should he??? Is such as test posible?

Wont work unless you have the fixpack installed.

Did you Read? "As I tried the WS>>>Thief Combo with all the patches installed"

That means all the patches and stuff that Stworca recommended!

"All the patches installed" - there is just ONE patch needed 26498 , everything else is the "stuff" , modifications made not by bioware (well Ascension is something different but still unofficial) , so conflicts between the mods may arise especially when many are involved . I suggest getting the installation order right by searching the mod threads or downloading the Big World v.8.1 at Spellhold Studios (.pdf file that contains info about install order and compatibility among other things). Other than that if everything is set right (install order , latest version etc.) there is no reason miscast on ranged attacks to not work.

I will have a look for sure, unfortunately for the next few weeks im unable to play anything.. So a guide will have to wait, unless someone else makes it ;)

Appo, im affraid that i can't help you with this one, it should work perfectly if you dont have other mods that alter wizard slayer class / miscast magic effect. If the instalation order was correct there shouldn't be any problems.

Holy geez! I just ran across this thread.

First let me say that wow, that was a lot of work! What a great asset for the site.

Next, let me say that I am now scared crapless to install the Tactics mod.

First of all, let me thank you for the compliment ;)

As for the last sentence, maybe it is i who made it seem harder than it is. Note that i wrote this tips for listed encounters on 'insane' difficulty, where Abazingals in human form may wipe the whole party effordlesly in one round if unprotected.

Aside from Illyich there are no unfair fights, so as long as you pause often and remain calm (and have saved the game before hard encounters!) there shouldn't be any problems :)

Update : Now, some time ago i promised to add video walkthrough of those fights, but i got caught in work on filming it, and all the material got deleted. I'm quite sure that i WILL add it in future, but for the moment i lost the mood (and the recording PC!)

Edit : Fixed a typo i nearly always make in "Th-a/e-n"

I am taking a bit of a break from BG but the next time I play, I will mod with SCSII and Ascension (i have yet to do either). After THAT run-thru, Tactics is the next configuration.

So it will be a while but good to know this thread is kicking around. I'm pretty good with figuring things out on my own but with this level of difficulty, I will undoubtedly come crying for help occasionally.

Well, any feedback is welcome. Aswell as your own tips / tactics for these encounters :)

(This goes to everyone, so share yar experience!)

Tactics is old and it uses Cheese to make the NPCs harder. I used to like it, but always felt it was a bit unfair that NPCs could do things that I had no chance of doing. So these days I swear to SCS II instead.

This thread is good though.

Edited to add, did you ever do the Sorcerer guide? Sorc is one of my fav classes and I bring one for most runthroughs. If I ever get installed again (two computers in a month has fried their motherboards and harddiscs), I would like to compare.

The "Reserved for future entries" was meant just for that. I will add it as soon as im able to.

P.S. Sorcerer is also my fav class (maybe because its overpowered beyond understanding :D )
