I didn't say that.
The context was Archer/Ranger *Solo*, and that it was *nearly* useless.
1. The Ranger utilizing a summon will limit a fair bit of stamina, thereby reducing the opportunity for a greater number of specialized attacks. (..assuming of course we aren't talking about Awakenings which has stamina potions.) The "work around" is getting out of the "field of combat" to where stamina can quickly replenish - it's tedious (doing it "again and again"), but it works.
2. When you have your summon with you you'll either have the summon attacked by opponents while you go into stealth, OR you'll tell it to stay-put (wait) while you plan-out/carry-out your first attack(s). Neither method is particularly useful. In the first case your opponents gang-up on your summon and kill it quickly. In the second case you have to "manually" get it to your battle location, which is tedious (..say to the point where you have very few enemies remaining).
3. You can't summon while Hiding, it "breaks" Stealth. Worse, it takes a long time to summon. (..and this of course is assuming you haven't already depleted your stamina.)
All of the above here relates to Aqua-chan's argument that a Rogue/Ranger SOLO is waste. What it does NOT show however is that SOLO use "translates" into a party-context; in that respect I would strongly disagree (with Aqua-chan's apparent reasoning). IMO the Ranger for a party is one of the strongest NON-Mage class/specializations available, better than Dualist, Assassin, and for the most part better than a Bard.
Note that NONE of the above references utilizing Stealth in a party context. In fact I've already commented that it can be quite useful (..with a Rogue that is a Ranger or not).
