I'd play BG3 anytime, even after 20 years. But you say you aren't interested that much in modding, are you thinking of getting a team to make it?
Are you planning to release those findings you do by analyzing gameplay elements of BG? I'd be interested to read them for sure, can come handy to all the modders out there

I am not really interested in modding. There are a lot of good people working on that already.Elvhen Veluthil wrote:I'd play BG3 anytime, even after 20 years. But you say you aren't interested that much in modding, are you thinking of getting a team to make it?

Certainly I will release some data. I look forward to sharing it. I am still cataloging the data from my first run-thru. I'm all done BG1, ToSC, SoA and I'm about 65% through ToB. I'm working my way through Yaga-Shura's Lair with Watcher's Keep 100% done. I'll need some time to finish plugging it all into my speadsheets and then I will share some insights and answer any questions that come up. I'll probably need another 3-4 weeks to reach that point.

If you make Baldur's Gate 3, make it completely epic, I will run all the way over to Vancouver, go to your house, kiss your shoe, either get that painted or a picture taken of, and get it put in a museum.
Maybe a bit over exaggerated?
But seriously. If you do make BG 3, you will be my hero. Literally.
Good luck man.
Btw, I play guitar, so if you need music or something, just message me, I'll see what I can do.

Would love to see BGIII. One way around all this copyright issues is to create your own world, characters and setting bases on 2nd addition AD&D rules. No one can copyright your imagination.
As far as mapping all the locations GameBanshee has this already in the area walkthroughs.

I hope you really succeed in creating BG3. If you won't make it, no one else would.
It would be very cool if you post how far you have come or what you are currently working on. I read that you analyse the BG series, but do you think it will also be worth playing (or analysing) the Icewind Dale series? Especially IWD 2 showed great potential, despite the short playtime.

hmmm interesting... I just happen to be making my own BG3 as well. It's quite different than yours though. Without giving to much away it continues and concludes the Bhaalspawn saga in an unusual twist with a battle vs Bhaal at the end. I bring back the npcs Imoen, Sarevok and Aerie and add 20 new ones (23 total). I add three new races and two new classes including shaman. I bring the subraces from IWD2 in with some tweaks and add a few of my own. I designed about 60 new spells too.
That's about all, I don't want to give too much away, but iv'e written the plot and am about 1/2 done the dialogue and then there's making the game! I figure the game provides about 200-300 hours of gameplay. Anyway I wish you good luck.
P.S. I'm from Vancouver too!

How is the progress with the project?
I figured i'd ask just to make sure you have some support. The one and only thing to realize with this game is will it be 3rd edition rules (icewind dale2), or 2nd edition like the originals. 3rd edition will be harder to make but better overall (imho), if its like baldurs gate 2 it will be good, but i think 3rd edition would be epic for the 3rd one in line. These are just thoughts, of course.

Unless EA has bought the license (Bioware is now owned by EA) i doubt that Bioware is working on it. As far as i know Infogrames aka Atari owns the name and there aren't any plans at the moment. Maybe Obsidian would be asked then, should there be any plans. Obsidian is actually the follow up from Black Isle.cdyrdr wrote:@sirredweed as far as i know thats the one they cancelled when black isle went down the toilet. unless bioware is making it anyway with the same name and cover art. however i really doubt it.
This thread itself is a real joke. Come on dude, let's face it; you can't built a complex game in your own. Maybe an indiegame, but i doubt if that even gonna happen. I also don't get it that some people really take it serious and hope it happens. Or they must be sarcastic. Just dream on, hope that at one day a next BG would be made and until then just stick to the current games.
Both BG games and their expansions are also bundled into a 4 pack by Atari and they are now available at Good Old Games (gog.com)
Atari doesn't made games, they only publish it. It's a publisher, not a developer.Sereth1728 wrote: Atari (destroyer of games) would only cripple the bg series. They haven't made one good game to this day. The only reason demonstone was alright was because R.A. Salvatore wrote the story.
So they can't destroy the game. They can only deliver bad support. That is if the developer doesn't do any support or doesn't exist anymore (and the publisher got the brand then)
