Free action works in the game just as the AD&D 1st and (as far as I'm aware) 2nd Edition stipulated. I gather Turd edition is different, but BG and BG2 are 1st/2nd edition games, so to quote 3rd/4th edition PnP 'rules' as an excuse for altering how things work in BG2 isn't, in my opinion, valid.

However the bottom line with AD&D has always been that the 'rules' are guidelines, it's up to each DM, and her/his group of players how they interpret those rules, or even if they use them at all. In terms of the game, Bioware/Black Isle is the DM, they laid down their 'house rules' so my view is as a basic tennet we should abide by them.

There is however a subscript to the bottom line, and that is you bought the game, in the end it's up to you how you play it, neither you or anyone else has to pay the least attention to moans by old fuddy duddies like me! :D

Hehe, fair enough galraen.

I have another question, and while I've already completely derailed my original topic, I figured I might aswell ask my questions here instead of spamming the forum with question threads.

I chose to take Keldorn in my party, but I'd like to know if he will leave the party for good after I recue imoen? I've completed the quest at the firecam estate and asked him to stay with me until I rescure Imoen, but I can't remember if he stays in the party after that?

He'll stay until the very end of ToB, unless you have someone in the party he has a terminal conflict with; Viconia for example.

PS He'll also likely end up squaring off with Anomen if the latter fails his Radiant Heart test.
