Well if we use mIRC, we could all just connect to the same sever, and create a temporary chatroom just for us

I would also like to join in, eventhough I have no PnP RP experience, if people don't mind, I'd like to get some PnP experience (or something similar) before NwN ;)

So whatya guys say - should we make characters after D&D 2.ed for starters, I'd say that most of us, knows a little about these from BG/BG2 :)
But that would properly be up to the DM.

Would it not be better to go for 3e since that's what NWN is based on.

Just a thought...

Agreed! If we can find a 3ed DM then I would want to go that way, but if all we have is 2ed, then so be it...

Before I stick my neck too far out here...

Let me do some checking to see if I can DM this (2nd e).

Let's see if we can get some consensus on times. Let's use Eastern Standard (US) time. When would people be available?

I am unsure how quickly I can get a game going based on the amount of time it will take to write out narratives. It is sooo much easier to talk as opposed to type.

Is Forgotten Realms a suitable world?

What level does everyone want to start at? beginning, middle, high?

Obviously this would be a long game. I can probably commit to 2-4 hours per week, and it would probably have to be on the weekends.
( I could commit more time, but my wife might leave me....oohhh, then I would have lots of free time.)

(I can be available for short times during the week day, as I am at work, but could answer general dm type questions.)

Well, lets see what the response is, and I'll see what I can come up with. :D :D

I don't know that you need to get everybody on-line at the same time. The way a lot of online games run is that users get online and post their actions as they can. It means that you are only making a move or two a day, but it also means you are only devoted 10-15 minutes a day. This slows the game considerably (from a PnP, all-in-the-same-room game), but really doesn't mean much less action (per weeek) than a 2-4 hour weekend session and it is much more flexible.

Just some thoughts.

AIM would be the logical choice for AD&D online in chat.

To roll dice in a chat room(only works in the AIM chat rooms, doesn't work in IM windows), type //roll to roll 2D6. You merely add to it to change the number of dice and number of sides on each die.

//roll-dice1-sides1 = 1D1 (this is the minimum you can set it at)

//roll-dice15-sides999 = 15D999 (this is the maximum)

you just change the numbers that follow "dice" and "sides" to change the number of dice rolled and how many sides they have. :)

BTW, I might be interested in playing online AD&D like this, but someone would have to teach me how. The most I've done playing AD&D is play BG1 and IWD.

I found this site about six months ago (yes, I've been holding back!)
System Reference Document
It has most rule stuff for 3eDnD (I also happen to have the Monster Manual)
We can also use this site:
Creature Catalogue
In order to add more creature and unique creatures.
I'd really like to play. But only 3e, I've read most of these documents and, what can I say? I wanna play.

Do we have a volunteer for DM? If worst comes to worst and no one else will do it I'll give it a shot, but I wouldn't be the best choice (I don't have all the books and I've never really DM'd before). The AIM chat room sounds good, the dice rolling thing would be cool.

I wouldn't mind playing. If so many people are playing why don't we split up into groups.

I also wouldn't mind DMing (even though my only epxperience with pnp is watching my friends, once, 8 years ago).

It seems a lot of people hold interest in this sort of thing. Over in the forgotten Realms Forum, Magus, Rail and I are constantly having a story written, were it is very close to D&D. We don't have the dice roles and all, but it still fun. If some of you wanna check it out, or even get in on the next one, just tell us. I know we currently have Xandax, Fas, and Craig participating in the story with us.

Hi guys,

I've allready a channel and a dice rolling bot script set up for use on any irc server.

The dice rolling is handled by a computer bot, and the general connection procedure to the chat server is fairly simple.

If I get enough people to start a campaign I will do it, just send me an email or icq me at 13262680.

With best regards,
fogWraith

I would be so in on this! I'm really only interested in playing third edition. I don't have pen&paper experience. But i've got a decent grasp of 3rd Edition rules and a 3rd Edition Character under the 28 point-buy system worked out. I've wanted for some time to get into p&p rpgs, but don't have the time to go somewhere, or anyone to play with...so sad. :D

Anyways, i've got aol instant messenger on my comp. If i need to download some other communication medium, i'm definitely cool with that.

I definitely agree, on Amazon I've bought the 3rd edition Players handbook for NwN so I can get used to 3rd edition quickly (I hope) :D . Downloading some other software is cool with me too.
