Since this thread is about F/M/Ts I have a related question that is slightly off the original intent. In all the Black Isle games using 2nd edition AD&D: BG, BG2, IWD fighters get 4 quick weapon slots, thieves get 2, and even mages get two. Why then do F/M/Ts only get 1?!? The mean average would be 2.67 but I could understand rounding down to 2. Just cannot figure out why only 1. Anyone have an idea?

I'm pretty sure that's a BG1/IWD1 only thing. Bards and Mages were stuck with only one weapon slot as well. In BG2 (and now EE) F/M/T and Bards get two slots.
Originally, I would assume that it was to make room for Quick Cast slots as well as other abilities (Stealth, Steal).

You're probably right about the need for extra quick cast and thieving abilities.
But, you got my curiosity going. I checked BG, BG2, & IWD1. I started a F/M/T in BG2 and true to form they only had 1 weapon slot so it was consistent across all three. Bards and Mages have 2 not 1 weapon slots and that was also consistent across all three. So the EE didn't actually add any. But a Mage/Thief "was" stuck with only 1 weapon slot which would support your supposition about quick cast and thieving slots needed.

Philos, just curious, do you have ToB installed? I just created an F/M/T to double check and she had 2 weapon slots. I honestly can't recall if SoA alone had the same number.
