I don´t think Gandalf dies, I don´t want to go through the books right now, but I think they land at the bottom in some water, and then Gandalf follows the Balrog out of the "cave". That saves him he sais.

Heh edwin is the best mage u can get ur hand in the game, better than even the prologust, but heh he aint the smartest, if he tries to take on elemister, i bet elemister would had crushed him into an puddle of red all over the floor. without breaking a sweat.
Just wait until you get to the end story. :D

If you look closely, Elmo has a CR of 45, which means (in 3ed) that you have to be of level 45 to stand a reasonable chance of beating him. Keep in mind that the levels in 3ed are much more significant than in 2ed.

What if you chose Edwin as your chosen one when you become lord of murder. He and Elminister would be equal.

Does Edwin deserve it?

That damn Elminster sure is annoying! I'll take special care to acquaint him with Mind Flayer brain drain... He may be immortal, but immortals can still not take that. :D

Elminster isn't immortal, he just ages very slowly, and now he's genuinely starting to go old.

What are Elminster's backgrounds? What makes him so powerful? I know Volo has those comments in the game manual? What I mean is that what is he in terms of the Forgotten Realms setting? And what are his relationships with Elminster?

Volo is a bard who goe around Faerun makign guides maps and such.

Elminster one of the few chosen of Mystra goddess of magic.
Another well known one was the guy(forgot the name) who started the Cult of the Dragon. He was an arch mage, level 29 similar to Elminster except evil.

I don't believe it is possible for a mortal to raech level 29+ unless chosen by mystra.
Or if you're part god, ex:bhallspawn
Most archmages on the world are between level 20 - 26.

I was wondering if anybody knew if Khelben Blackstaff Arusun was a chosen of Mystra?
He's an archmage probably around level 25.
His wife is one of the seven sisters, so she's a bit beyond average in power, what about him.
Archmage of Waterdeep, one of the greatest cities in Faerun.

Ofcourse he does! He is sooo evil, greedy, arrogant etc and he is hilarious. And don't you think he deserves atleast something for the effort he put in the group.

Except, of course, for Edwin, Imoen and Nalia...

@Xyx: Imoen, Nalia, and Edwin are able to get to those levels because of the PC. The PC is part immortal, so I think he/she extends some influence over his/her party members.

In the ToB ending for Edwin. I remember that after Edwin was killed by Elminster, there is something about Edwina being a really bitter woman. Who is Edwina?

I only played with Edwin once when I decided to start an evil party and went from SoA to ToB. I got the nether scroll, and then nothing happened. Can anyone fill me in on this?

Following my previous post.

Edwin is a red wizard scout or soemthing like that, and now's he level 30. Then what level are his masters? level 45, then a god in avatar form should be lv60, and the archmages of halruaa and evermeet should be level 50.

When you meet him, yes, but he does make something of a career out of travelling with Bhaalspawn. ;)
