You have to apply to ALFA though... Personally I wouldn't want to play there because they say that only good roleplayers will be there but in the character bios I see TONS of orphans, raised by elves, Drow Rangers that are good and use 2 scimitars, Half-orc Barbarians that seemingly have not run into any predjudices. All these bios show a lack of imagination on the players part. ALFA also punishes the players by making character death PERMANENT and having ALL areas PvP active. Its a good idea but I don't think that just because the players submitted a character bio doesn't mean that his level 15 barbarian won't chase down your level 2 sorcerer (that you just spent 10 hours leveling) just for fun. I like the idea of ALFA but I think it will eventually collapse...

ALFA ....my thoughts.
1. They punish you for not having knowledge of DnD. It's doomed mainly because of this. Any thing needs new blood to survive and they are cutting off their supply at the very beginning.
How long would this board of Buck's survive if he did the samething? How many people started playing DnD just because of BG?? All the new people are completly cut off with the system/rules they at ALFA have.
2.To get an idea of the type of people you will have to play with...take the time to read their boards. Their are some that will be great to meet and adverture with....but it only a small amount. They don't like for 'new' people to state idea's. They have their own little group and it needs to be stated by one of them to get any decent reply...a 'new' person will be ridiculded or flamed.
A lack of ideas or a lack of even thinking about someone else's idea is a dead end path.
3.******** (Yes I know who the leader is) A person who needs to learn the skills of a human being. Someone who thinks in their little mind their jokes are 'OK' as long as someone doesn't flame back.
"It's 'OK' for ******** to flame someone, but you flame him back....you get a warning you will get banned"
How do I know??? I have had it happen to me by this person. A simple question and all I get is trash talk.
With a leader like this...it's going to fail.
"I will ban you for throwing a fireball spell at a unexplored area"
Next will be .....
"I will ban you for not bowing and licking my boots"
No thank you.

Weasel... I have to agree with you there. I haven't played real DnD since I was 12 or so! It does look like these guys are hard-asses and that would take a lot of the fun out of it for me.

@ThorinOakensfield...That was not an attack on you. Don't take it that way.
Plan number 1 on my things to do.
Copy someone's bio on ALFA.. (I have saw this done and work)
Do this on 4 separate computers...with different IP numbers.
Let their leader get to 11th or 12th level...then backstab him. (One down ....I will be banned with this character...but with their rules (If they follow there on rules....the leader will have to start over at level one

)
Repeat the same thing again with another character (Number 2)
Repeat the same thing again with another character (Number 3)
Repeat the same thing again with another character (Number 4)
Yes

@everybody: You can check out some of the sites i've given linnks to. I'm searching for the best sight. The last site i gave a link for is pretty good. It is a large world, has some history and the rules are pretty fair. I don't what dieties this guy has. If its the regular forgotten realm gods then there shouldn't be much of a problem.

Aye, mate! I'll be there with ya...we just got to keep our eyes peeled for them tree-hugging rangers and druids. They like to sneak real quiet like.

@Thorin: thanks for looking through some sites and giving us some options, but I gotta say: nothing even comes close to Argyle. The guys making that place up are obviously dedicated and professional. I know it's early in the day to be making final decisions about worlds, but my vote is definitely for Argyle.

Then we'll just have to sneak up on them first!

I mean we are thieves and all, we stick to the shadows better than them!

Back in the old days if you metioned anything negative about rangers druids, you'd be up to your neck in flames, from the
Brotherhood of the Woods and the
League of Divinity. Infact at one point i forced myslef to join the League or otherwise i'd be a lone dwarf in BG2 forums. You had the shadow thieve guild, the mage council, and teh treehugers, and ofcourse lonesome Thorin.
