I think we should be able to come up with some of our own, we are not devoid of a bit of imagination ;)

We shouldn't change it

I feel we should leave things as they are. Because in a lot of other forums new members or even old members with not enough posts felt sort of stupid posting in SYM type forums with all of the exalted members, super members etc.
The way GB works is better first of all because I think the members care less about numbers of posts, and second it is very easy to reach exalted member- which keeps everyone equal.

Could we have a system that was somehow based on a combination of seniority, number of posts and member rating?

Say you get 10 points for every month since you registered, one point for every 100 posts, and three points for ever star of your average member rating.

Then create a scale something like this:

1-25 points = Newbie
26-50 points = Member
51-100 = Exalted Member
101-150 = Ubermember
151-250 = Grand Member
251+ = Old Salt

Sure that's complicated, but so is the BCS and people seem content with that.

I don't see why we'd need them in the first place... all these little options certainly seem enough to keep us going for quite a while... what I think we should do a bit more importantly is fix the topic titles so that way all page numbers are displayed instead of just 1-4... :)

Hmm..I'm a bit torn, as I always resist new things, but then I've been loving the avatars and other fun things here. :)

I think if we can come up with a way to incorporate longevity/member rating and number of posts into allowing for new titles it might be fun? But this will clearly cause too much work for the mods, and I would never want to do that. :D

Is there a program that would do this for them? And, if anyone needs help making up titles, let me know :) We could always have different names for women vs men. You know, beginning level for man is 'slave', beginning level for woman is 'goddess' that kind of thing :D

@ Viv, congrats on 2000 posts! Did you notice you hit the milestone?

RE. The names, maybe we should decide for each other. I think that you can trust people on this board to make up decent titles for each other or themselves.

Thank you :) No I hadn't :) (I think Gruntboy shows why we maybe shouldn't name each other) ;)

Titles, Honor...

I was think, i like the idea of titles based both in the nunber of post and the member longevity.(Vivien)

But the tittle is splitted.

My idea is make titles based in prefix and sufix.
prefix- represent the member number(how long he is in GB)
sufix- number of posts of the member

For example:

Prefix: Newbie, Young, Mature, Adult, Old, Elder, Ancient, Paleozoic.

Sufix: Shy, Lurker, Exalted, Commer, Excessive Exaggerate ,Spammer.

(Sorry for the poverty and concordance of the tittles in the example; it is a little dificult create titles out of the mother language, it is just a ilustrative example)

The Combination of the prefix and sufix will create the member tittle, for example:

Buck Satan: Paleozóic Shy Member
Weasel: Ancient Spammer Member
SS: Mature Communicative Member
...
(Ilustrative example; not based on real analisys)

I don't know if it can be made; but i think it is fair, and interesting.
The idea of we give titles to ourself a little nonsense, and will not represent any kind of real numeric value(like the stars in the last system).

What do you think?
[Sorry about my English]

Ps: I'm "Ivan Cavallazzi".

Lurker(0.50). : )

Buck Sir, I prefer as the way it is. It'll become complicated for newbies to see different title under the user name if you overhaul this board again :)
