I'm all for a healthy debate on the effects of cheating in a game, but slinging rude remarks or trying to belittle someone for how they enjoy playing their characters is against our forum rules. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so please try and keep things friendly.
They probably take it for granted that you continue with your Bg1-character or you have a new character and then those stats are your loss. In any way, continuening Bg2 with your Bg1 is logical from the storyline, don't you think? So that's why the bonuses (stay loyal!!)

About the whole stat thing, I'm roleplaying too even though I have 19 19 17 15 15 18, my regular stats are 12 19 17 15 15 10, AND I'M STILL A HERO WOOT!! I run around like Sauron with the ring of human influence and everyone bows down to the power of the ring muahaha!
