Patrick Stewart would be great for that part! Or perhaps the guy who played Q?
For the part of the PC, there would certainly be several options.
Male Elven Fighter/Mage - Too bad Leonard Nemoy's too old, so perhaps the guy who played Tuvok on Voyager?
or
Female Elven Kensai - Jeri Ryan or the lady who plays T'Pal on Enterprise.

The Main Character
My suggestions for the main character:
David Boreanaz
Jennifer Garner

What about Natalie Portman as Imoen, its been suggested before, and her old BG 1 portrait would look alike.
Obviously David Warner, the actual acter for Irenicus would be him, we can't exclude him, after all he has been in some films like Tron.

Also as I said before the main characters must be
Imoen
Minsc
Jaheira
Edwin
After all the were the ones that spent the most time with the main character, the others Khalid and Dynaheir are dead and would need replacing.
This party selection is obvious by the fact that 3 of the 4 characters above are in the first dungeon with you, plus the fact that Edwin mentions to Aegisfield how the party fought Sarevok and his minions and defeated them, only to fall to a flesh loving thief, something on those lines though not his exact words so he obviously might rejoin the party in BG2 regardless of alignment.

Like I said earlier, Viconia also 'remembers travelling with you.' Using your logic, she would have to be in the party as well.
PC
Imoen
Minsc
Jaheira
Edwin
Viconia
You wouldn't have room left for any of the new NPCs.

You don't "have" to keep anyone in the party (and thus the characters in a hypothetical movie aren't set in stone either). In fact, there are several characters who appear in BG1 who may have been in your party that are also in BG2 but aren't available as NPCs: Tiax, Quayle, Garrick, Xzar, and Montaron. Also, there's no rule that says there can only be six characters (although having too many would disrupt the on-screen chemistry). What if we changed the premise from a Shadows of Amn movie to a Shadows of Amn mini-series or weekly TV show (similar to Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, Hercules, Xena et al)? That way, everyone could make an appearance.
@Sailor Saturn:
John de Lancie is a little to freaky and neurotic to be Irenicus . . . he would make a good Shangalar, though.
More casting:
Tiiro - Woody Harrelson
Aulava - Juliette Lewis
Sir Sarles - Nathan Lane
Neb - David Spade
Guardian Telwyn - David James Elliott
Lord Roenall - Patrick Duffy
Lavok - Avery Brooks
Gaal - Robert Patrick

...more casting....
Jaheira - Milla Jovovich (The 5th Element)
Minsc - A. Schwarzenegger - as a kind of crossover
between "Conan" and "Kindergarten Cop"
Khalid - only in "Flashback" style cameos - Dan Aykroyd
Nalias Aunt (Which you free from the Trolls) - Bette Middler
Nalia - thats a hard one, but one could try Tori Spelling there's a resemblance in the face - both have a look of a person permanently surprised about something....
...more to come ...
...well, maybe...
No Worries !

- YEAH - let's make a series....and if something goes really, REALLY wrong with the plot you could always have the main Char wake up in the fountain of Candle Keep - and realize that it was all a dream...
..And how about a gameshow ? "Meet your doom at noon" - hosted by J.Irenicus ?
All the Bhaalspawn meet in a arena on a "one on one" basis to answer questions about "What would you do if you became a god ?" - and the audience picks the winner by stoning the losers to death ?
GET creative ! The wold is your jellyfish !
HA ha ha haaaaaa ! ****very mad laugh*****
No worries, Mate !

*Yawn* Been there, done that with this topic. But I guess I'll do it again just to correct some of the weird casting choices people have made.
Aerie: (Callista Flockhart) Despite the fact that she's a little old for my preconceived notion of Aerie, the resemblance between them is too great to ignore.
Irenicus: (David Warner) *Gasp* A voice over actor actually playing a live-action role?! Well, yes. Warner has been in many live-action movies and is tall with great poise. Not to mention he sounds perfect for the role.
Minsc: (Ralph Moeller) Probably best known for his role as the Maximus’ big friend in Gladiator. He also played Conan on the syndicated series. At 6’6’’ 275lb. the German born Moeller is a former Mr. Universe who is not a shabby actor either (who has had plenty of experience with sword swinging roles). He would be perfect for Minsc.
Nalia: (Drew Barrymore) She looks a great deal like Nalia's portrait and did a fine job of in the Cinderella fantasy movie "Ever After".
Sarevok: (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) Has the look, height, build and presence for the role. Have to wait for “The Scorpion King” to come out to see if he can actually act.
Valygar: (Keith Hamilton Cobb) Have you seen this guy on Andromeda? Not only is he a great actor but the resemblance is uncanny. Casting him is a no brainer.
Viconia: (Jessica Alba) She looks a great deal like Viconia's BG2 portrait and has experience playing tough, jaded chicks (watch Dark Angel).
*Note about casting Jan Jansen, Mazzy, or any other dwarves, halflings, gnomes, etc. After seeing LotR: TFotR these roles should not be restricted by height. If nothing else, LotR showed us that people of ordinary height can play convincing hobbits.

I would like to see Vin Diesel play Sarevok. Before you go asking "Who the hell is Vin Diesel?" he was the criminal Richard Rid**** in the movie Pitch Black (You know the one with the really cool eyes)

I think Drew Barrymore or Kate Winslet would be good for Nalia.
What would you think of Daniel Day-Lewis as Irenicus and Helena Bonam Carter as Bodhi? Ok, Helena is kind of short but she seems efficiently dark and mysterious to me.

So what you're saying is that YOUR opinion is the only right one, and everyone who disagrees with you is WRONG.
Sounds like some rightwing ideology to me. Just what the world needed - another guy who tells everybody what's right and whats WRONG....
Next thing we'll be talking about banning every member who doesn't side with you.
Wake UP Kayless ! Discussion is what this forum is all about ! It would be REALLY boring if everone took your cast as the right one - which it DEFINITELY isn't.
For example:
- Ralf Moeller couldn't act his way out of a barroom brawl - even if his life depended on it...
- or Callista Flockhart - what a lass....no **** no ass...
...but that's just MY opinion. Some wise ,great, ultimately Godlike being like you wouldn't listen to some lower lifeform like me ...wouldn't you ?
Still - no worries - I really REALLY like being here....

I' m not a moderator, but.. come on guys! We are supposed to exchange opinions and share our experiences in the game; not to get hard feelings and driving our funny conversations to politics. We lead nowhere. Let's have some fun instead, okay?
Now, what do you say? Would you accept Helena as Bodhi? When is the audition?
Cheers

@Beldin, Whoa! Back the train up bub! I thought my liberal use of graemlins was evidence enough of my lighthearted intentions (In others words I was just making with the funny). And I did put J/K (Just Kidding) after my post as well. Of course your entitled to your own opinion. I was making a J-O-K-E. Not being serious, attempting humor (I guess I've been in SYM too long). I'd better be more careful with my jokes, lest I be seen as a Nazi. Sheesh.

@Aubrey...@Kayless
No problem and no hard feelings here !
I enjoy myself by being massively clueless on Kayless...

- and BTW - it wasnt ME that told everybody that they were wrong .
Talking about "Clueless" - what about Alicia Silverstone as Aerie ?
I don't want to get into details about which portrait looks like which actor - I just can imagine her in that role ...and playing RPG'S is all about imagination - isn't it ?
No Worries !

Ack! I was trying to have fun! I was making a joke folks! Cut me some fricking lack here! (Was the J/K and the smilies too subtle or what?)
This reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer tries to fit in with some teens at a rock concert and ends up being called a nark. Oh well.
