(no bards?)
i'm suprised there are not more bards in use, imo (with how) they are the premire #6 char.
spells, pick pockets, lore, and the healing war chant, plus they make pretty good missle troops.
typical party (i always play 6)
fighter or paladin, maces, swords, long bow
another ftr or ranger - dual to cleric, flails, sling
halfling ftr / thief - gotta give props to the little guys, mace or hammer, short sword, sling
druid, (pure class or dual from ftr) (those spells are incredible, entangle + spike stones, and the thorny vine spell) club sling staff
ftr mage (human dual) longbow, hammer (usually i dual to a spec. mage take a good look at the manual and see what schools of magic you can live without)
bard, something blunt & sling, stick to one handed weapons, axe is also good.
for weapons i always choose blunt and missles first, the ammount of skeletal undead (esp. in the early game) outweighs (imo) the somewhat more powerful bladed weapons.
