Well, I definitely think it's a cool idea...and let me stress it again the I like it. :D

It's good writing. If the DM's go for it, even better. I guess I was thinking you just might want a second verion handy, one that actually gives the low-down of it all. :D

Umm, yeah here was the rest.......

The embracing of new life, with a new awakening both bird and man are released. The cycle is complete

Continuing from earlier…

An image has the ability to dramatically impact on to the mood of the observer. In the same manner that a warlord would reveal his finest armor and his array of weapons in an effort to instill fear and obedience into his followers. Likewise a bard chooses his garments. Black, the color of the night for which to embrace the darkness and eternal silence around and within him. Black to silhouette all that is arcane within the lands for which his kin are masters and masters alone. Gold, the constant reminder that all can be bought for a price. Gold to symbolize that all are fallible to the vices of greed, regardless of faith, power or status. And lastly Brown to remind that a debt is owed to land from whence we spawned and to which we shall later return to. Whilst not always apparent at first, the bard has established this creed, an infallible doctrine to draw comfort from in his times of need and solitude.

Like a phoenix, which has risen from the ashes, the bard has withdrawn himself from the masses, forever looking forward, with a firm belief that the sky truly is the limit. And as the phoenix continues to rise so shall the bard, and in time all shall come to learn the name of

Tamerlane…
