My BG1 party consisted of:
Lynariel (Ranger Elf)
Coran
Khalid(!)
Ajantis
Jahiera
Edwin
Coran takes care of the thivening insteed of Imoen... And Khalid is underestimated IMHO.

Kagain for instance, great con, but a lousy dex for a fighter (if i'm not mistaken)
Easily taken care of by the Gauntlets of Dex (which you can get early in BG1 as well). His high Con also gave him a natural healing.

This is a very nice discussion!
I liked reading it a lott.
I think he's a wuss too! Extra problem I had was with my keyboard. My multi functional keyboard (or whatever you call those) from PB had a problem with ALL BG games, like all these types of keyboards, it's a well known problem...
Due to this problem, one of the characters had a.... problem. I my case it was Khalid, he was a nervous character indeed, but when combined with my keyboard he went nuts! He started acting like if I was tapping F5 coninually!
Result > grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword, grabing sword, lowering sword etc etc etc...
Talk about nervous eh?

MPC dialogue
I'm also sick of hearing Minsc constantly say me and boo and rangers everywhere. Needless to say I usually leave Minsc in his cell .. Good thing Irenicus doesn't try to get us to do something by trheatening to kill Minsc.

nah u recue him for the 3000 xp then kill him like the damn fool he is (argh i h8 him he is so annoying) him and dynaheir were my least favorite npcs in BG i always used to pick up Edwin and kill dynaheir she was fairly crap too

ahhhhhhhh!!!!
how can you say this?
minsc is soo funny and cool, and dynheir was better than edwin, mybe not stat wise but she was still a nice little mage.
< stops talking and sits on the floor rocking and not listening to the nasty people

Edwin was the best mage in BG1 and BG2 the sheer amount of speels counteracts the fact that he cannot use divination
dynaheir however as a diviner ocul'd use if i remember correctly conjuration or invocation meaning she had few decent offensive spells
minsc bugs me but is a perfectly good ranger its just that i find him really annoying but dynaheir was lame there was no reason to take her over edwin

Actually Dynheir was an invocter and as such couldn't cast Carme spells which I almost never use anyway. She was great at blasting things.

Yeah, Xan was the one that lacked a lot of offensive power. Dynaheir could blast you six ways to Sunday.

True! The problem with her, though, was the spell restrictions. She had the most narrow selection of spells of them all.

IMHO Imoen is the best mage in the game, when you dual her into a illussionist that is. A good selection of spells, excellent stats and the ability to use all weapons a thief can use (short bow!)

I prefer Edwin instead of Dynaheir, even if they are both good, but Edwin is.......Well he's Edwin! THE Edwin. Anyway, I always pick up Safana instead of Imoen(mostly, I mean. Sorry)... Am I going to be fried for this?

i have never actually used Edwin.
I only use good aligned characters or neutral (in Jahiera's case), i just don't like evil.
If Edwin was a good aligned character then i would use him, or would have used him at one point.
I think i have killed him every time i have seen him......

No, you won't be. Safana is the sexiest NPC in BG1!

You can't.
Don't mind you're not the only one. Try to equip him with Drizzt's armor and swords and then you'll see what kind of fighter he is. OK you could think he is not brave at all, as all the fighters in our opinion should be, but imagine a party with him and Minsc, TWO warriors completely different from the normal ones
.

Well, I liked Khalid. I never even seemed to have a problem with him waaaay back in BGI. I even abandoned Minsc for a while so I could keep my part up and aligned with him (but that changed when that dang Safana-girl ditched me...). You know, I was pretty P.O.ed when I found out that they decided to drop Khalid (and Dynaheir too, but that's another story...), but I moved on, and I'm sure you'll all get by without him too.
(Yeah right)
