One of the more interesting thingsw about the renaissance masters was they were recognized as geniuses in their own lifetime. and thier various patrons hired them not only for art, but for other things that required learned design. like warfare. Leonardo designed and built seige engines, and michealangelo designed weapons.
one of the more interesting things michaelangelo designed were new designed for mace heads. one of the designs was for a dodecahedron, a twenty sided regular solid. or in another words, it was a giant 20 sided hit dice, which you whacked people with. so the real hit dice are really dice....
