Um... that's quite hard to answer without giving you any spoilers... there are a few liches in Athkatla and the underdark but it is possible that you've avoided them.

Which quests have you done and where have you been?

Do you own a sword called Daystar?

hmmmm

I've done most of the quests in A. (i think) But i don't remember getting the daystar.

I'm in the underdark right now, so i'll probably run into them soon i guess.

Thanks for the info

Actually, I don´t think there are any liches in the Underdark. AFAIK, all the lich killing is optional, I played my first time through without even knowing there were any liches. It´s definitely worth your while though to end their undead existence. Have you done the Unseeing Eye Quest yet. There´s is a lich´s tomb in the sewers of Akathla, near the exit to the Lower Reaches. An ex-priest warns you not to open the tomb, though!

There are liches in the underdark but you can avoid them. I'll not say where as Schept has not asked for spoilers :)

i'm sure you DID encountered a lich before.
if you are in the underdark, it means you've been in spellhold, and there is an un-avoidable lich in spellhold
*SPOILER* (well, not really, you've been there already)

That lich isn't always there... it depends on what level you are when you get there.

if you're experienced enough, there'll be liches in the temple ruins and in the undead section of the unseeing eye quest too.

spellhold

I think i have enough experience to encounter liches. (my main character is a level 14 ranger)

Well i forgot about it then.....

thanks anyway

I'll try to kill the one in the sewers of the unseeing eye wuest as soon as i come back to the mainland. I would like to be aware of the fact i'm fighting a Lich...makes it more exciting i hope :)

Believe me, fights with liches usually are exciting...if not fatal !

Nael?

You cant use breach on liches, they are immune to 4th level spells....

wont work, only dispell and remove magic can dispell combat protection on liches....I know dispell is 3rd level spell, but it is the exception ot every rule...

Just to put in my two cents, here's an outline of how I defeated *both* liches in the Kangaxx quest - Shhde lich and elemental lich (not Kangaxx though). I combined a few suggestions in the "strategy guide" as linked above. My main PC is was a level 13 mage, although I believe this strategy might have worked far before then (maybe i just got lucky??)

Wait at enterence to room (SE corner)
Haste party
Send PC mage (or whoever can) to cast Wizard Eye where lich appears
Send PC mage to open sarcohpogus
Immediately run back to pary
During this time, lich is casting spells, etc, on wizard eye while party is safe
Meanwhile, conjure fire elemental, bears, aerial servant, etc...
Send summoned monsters to fight lich
Wait a bit till most of lich's spells wear off
PC mage casts spell ammunity: conjuration and alteration, spell deflection, and minor spell turning (maybe overkill?)
Go fight lich with PC mage, Minsc (using Lilarcor), and Valygar (using Frostsaver)

That did it with minimal damage to party (I also had yoshimo, aeri, and jahira). Aerie ended up dying the first time, but this could have been avoided.

anyway good luck!
