I agree with Ned on this one, use any line you want, You truly never know. and besides, at the worst you provide your buddies with entertainment.
On a related note, you would be surprised at what works and what doesn't. I had a freind who used only one pickup line in his life.....simply approached the lady and asked if she would like to sleep with him. It caused his jaw to form a permanent disfigurement from so many slaps, but occasionally it actually worked.
So that said, you just never know......
Looks over at SS....when you come back, will you please bring my breath with you? you took it away from me when you walked past earlier.

One of my friends a long time ago tried this:
After a few failed relationships, he had been pondering the idea of whether learning to know each other first really made any difference of not for the chances of staying together for a long time. He failed relationships had been slow, they had been friends at first etc, but still, it hadn't worked out. So he came to the conclusion that the opposite, not knowing each other at all, was worth a try.
One day when we was strolling downtown, he saw this beautiful lady. He thought "now or never", boldy stepped forward to her, introduced himself and said "Do you want to marry me?". The lady of course looked at him confused and a bit disturbed, then she replied "But we don't know each other!". He, foreseeing as he was, had anticipated this answer and quickly said "I know, but that doesn't matter, since we will have plenty of time to
learn to know each other.".
The lady was puzzled and seemed to actually think about the idea, but, alas - her conclusion was that she couldn't marry someone she didn't know.

Well, no one's ever used a pickup line on me (still deciding whether I should be glad or sad about that...
![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/)
). But I was in a bar once with a friend and a guy struck up a conversation with her, and he said, "So, do you come here often?" It's not necessarily a
bad line but it's so lame and cliche, I couldn't believe anyone would actually say it...

Not a girl, but here's a line a buddy of mine used once. Possibly the worst I've ever heard. He's a film buff, so he (I think) meant it as a compliment. He had a few too many, so maybe he didn't know what he was saying himself, but:
Him: (leaning in drunkenly) Did anyone ever tell you that you have a chin like Kirk Douglas?
Her: (slap)

I've done things like that before. Only with me it was random people around my school for a School Video Year book we were doing.

I don't use lines, I just talk you know, no specific format and however it goes it goes you know, maybe I make a new friend maybe we go home together, either way it is all good.
Those lines were very funny though.

I particularly like the "you know" after "I just talk".

I ususually work better for women, since our society still has this erranous prejudice that women are less interested than men in sex, why men often feel more flattered by such requests.
I just recalled a really horrible pick up line, or rather pick-up lecture: I was at a private party when this really sweet looking guy comes up to me and says "I wish I was in a bubble bath with you and a bottle of pink champagne". Then he continued with detailed descriptions of what he would like to do in that bath. Now, wasn't that tacky

LOL
I like the "either way all is good" part....it reminds me of my days "on the prowl" ...
The usual result of "you know" was more on the lines of :
"You know..."
But - NO worries !

Yes, it was.

Makes you wonder what he thought of women in general, that he figured such a line could actually work. For that matter, it makes you wonder what the woman would be like whom that line could actually work upon...
![Eek!](./images/smilies/)
I hope you laughed.
What a shame our culture swaths sex in such a number of unspoken taboos, or uses it as a cheap and ready PR tool. There are so many ridiculous myths about the other sex, and so much friendship and pleasure lost in a haze of projected fears and antagonisms.

The guy who rang at my doorbell 4am in the morning a weekday night and suggested we'd take a ride to Scotland on his motorbike, that was another thing

That kind of line give me the impression that the guy is trying to figure out "what a woman wants" rather than saying something spontaneos that he really means. I think such a line might work on women and men who contrary to me, get the impression that the person who says it is genuine. How one could get that impression is beyond me though, since it sounds like a very bad movie.
