Just wanted to add smething here... none of the mages in the game can last more than ten hits, that is true...But pretty much every mage casts stoneskin right?.. and It take quite a number of hit to get rid of it, and every one of those hits to get rid of the stoneskin will cause 10% spellfailure. And I do agree that not being able to use potions, rings, ect. really does blow, but I say it is worth it,and here is why.
When I fought Irenicus didnt touch me once , because he couldnt cast a spell!!

i think crom would be better than the waveblade, just personaly one of the fav. my fav weapon has to be the mace of disruption+2 it is not the best weapon but since i killed the demi-lich with it in the first round. thus i like it. waveblade is cool but more classes can access to the crom.
You really should not have written this

1. Mages are not the main headache for wizard slayers. I always dealt with them after everyone else was dead.
2. WS can use some magical items (armor, weapons, helms, shields, boots, plus some scrolls - protection scrolls and restoration scrolls). AC goes down to -7 (even lower in Underdark). Overall, a WS can use enough magic items to survive through the game.
3. With WS you can hit a mage's stoneskin with several arrows, and while still alive he is useless (spells that do go through are likely to be negated either by magic resistance or saving throws). Take you time to kill fighters around, and then when stoneskins wear off finish that poor spellcaster.
I agree about Crom Fayer. It is a great weapon, and even without proficiency in it it gives really high THAC0. But you cannot kill a dragon with one hit with it

(unfortunatly, this does not work in final battle

) . Mace of disruption is also good for undead, but the question was about 2 handed swords

Hmm I did some testing and I don't think the spell failure is permanent. I fought different wizards and the Inquisitor is by far the better. I guess the WS could be used to create a dual class character but as a single class fighter he is weak.

I found play a wizardslayer very rewarding - most times, I didn't get hit for enough damage to worry about healing, and if I did, I just used a restoration scroll, or plunked the white ioun stone on my head and went to sleep. Second, with a fast bow hand, mages were no serious problem (if they were, a helpful body double from Vhailor's Helm was just the right solution). There were only a few fights I had any trouble with, and that was while playing solo.
As for the sword situation, the Silver Sword is much more useful than the Warblade, which is basically there to help put the smack down on Kangaxx. I bought it anyway, but it just went in the Bag of Holding.
IMHO, I think any class is worth playing, provided they are complemented with the right items and their abilities understood and used effectively.
