My very first paycheck, from a summer job in a record store (I was in heaven - can you imagine a better summer job?) I saved up to a journey to London and Paris, the really cool and hip cities where everything happened, as opposed to the boring little back-water town Stockholm.
My first paycheck for a "real" job (although some people think research is not real job) I spent on a long climbing and hiking journey to Western and Northern Greenland.
All the paychecks in between those two, I've spent on travelling. Most of the paychecks after this, I've spent on travelling. I've actually not found anything better to spend my money on than travelling

@CE. A worthy cause. Heres to hoping I can do the same someday!
@Sleep, Jee pops, I thought money went further in your day.
@Marh. Alas, I DID get what I paid for...

@Obsidian: I'm sure you will be able to do that too, if that's what you want.

Travelling is not so expensive, it's more a question of learning how to find cheap flying tickets and live simple.
It's really a special feeling to get your first paycheck, at least it was to me - I felt like an adult, and every little thing I could buy for own money (like a cup of coffee or record) felt like a luxuary

When i got my first paycheck (from a summer job), i bought a brand new Quatro speed CD-ROM and the impressive Creative Sound Blaster 16 Pro

. The feeling of buying something you worked for was great.

... you just gotta trust a guy named Mr. Sleep to be an expert when it comes to good coffee.
@Sleepy: Did the coffee go with a smoked kipper instead of doughnuts?

@ Sleep Fabrege eggs of coffee? Must have been kinda crunchy, though I'm sure the prettyness would have been worth it.

I'm not so sure about that - after all he is a Brit.

For breakfast?!?
Why not? I'm always hungry when I awake, so I'll eat whatever is in the fridge, everything from orange juice to cold pizza slices or leftovers from yesterday's dinner

Is it something special you'd like to do or see?
I think it's as easy to get used to living simple as it is to get used to consume a lot. When I started working after having been a student for many years (and a student saving up all money for travelling, mind you) I saved lots of money unintentionally since it hadn't entered my mind I had a higher income now

Well that was lucky, because that way I could finance a long trip to Thailand when I thought my budget restricted me to Europe

Oh, cold pizza is definitely good for breakfast

Rice with chilli, though...
Of course, I usually don't eat typical breakfast stuff, but that's because I don't get up until lunchtime

I think rice with chili sounds great - oh, now I'm hungry again, I should talk about food when the fridge is empty.
I get up late too, usually not after 11am, but usually not before 9am either. I'm too lazy to make a cooked breakfast (I love it when the hubby makes it though) but I'm too hungry to eat typical breakfast stuff - besides I hate things like Swedish youghurt (it's very think and sour), cereals and porridge
Hm, I am going to see what I can find in the cupboards...
