Jump spell. It's why the icarian flight scrolls can carry a level 1 character who stumbles across them so far (and, most likely, kill them in the fall).

Damn, Cross...now I'm interested to find out which one is better! ;)

Why don't you give your character some kind of magic item from the editor (doesn't matter which one as long as you can easily find it and use it for the baseline test) by using the:

'player-> additem XX 01' command from the console and try out each of the increases one-at-a-time (Acrobatics, Srength, Speed and Jump) with about 10 or so in each. Then come back here and tell us what you've discovered :)

I tend to agree with CJ about the 'jump' spell being the most powerful, but I'd still like to know the max Jump, STR, SPD and acrobatics you can put on an enchanted item and how that would translate to constant effect EP and usefulness in the game.

Coz I don't know how to use the TES editor. =(

Anybody have a "TES EDITOR FOR DUMMIES" website somewhere?

Also, I need to take into account the fact that perhaps jump enchantment costs more enchantment points than +acrobatics enchantment.

as i understand it, the jump actually completely enhances your ability to jump....so it makes sense that putting in the most mana into the spell will get you the most throughput....

ok, i am a cheater, and i admit it...my current char, bun bun, started out in saya need with 255 strength...

i can confirm for SURE that acrobatics will get you the most jump distance....

speed is not such an issue....

thanks, cross for that complement....ever visited the bg2 forum???

I am the proud inventor of the frag grenade g deathblow exploit, and the str spell on golems, and other fine cheese...

as for style...its one thing to see a guy in full daedric armor, jummping like a bunny (hence bun bun!!!) across the city....its another to see the guy jump 100 feet per leap, the first looks silly but the second is soemthing to tell your kids about...

as for the spell vs acrobatics....

ok with 100 acrobatics, thank you secret master!!!

i get around 20 feet....but with a simple 8 points in jump, constant effect, i double that, and with 16, i can jump over buildings....so acrobatics is the most important skill, but its the spell that really boosts performance....
i am beginning to think the best effect and practical use may be a amulet and two rings, will give you jump of 24, and should allow rapid bunny hopping from city to city, much faster than lev, which is such a drag....come on, even with boots of blinding speed, its a pain, guys, just admit it...

wait, a sec...will post this later, but just cheated myself mephala skill spell,,,,if the constant effect boost to acrobatics is cheaper, how about 200% acrobatics???will it get you very high jumps???

will try...

a acrobatics skill of 200 gives you the same distance as jump spell of magnitude 8 or so...

so has anybody used a series of devices to boost jump to 1000 yet???

you could jump across vvardenfell, become sputnik....

oh, and i always name my enchanted items creatively...in fact i spend more time naming than creating....

my restore health and magic shield is called "ankh"

my chameleon gear are called

night, twilight and shadow

and i am thinking of for jump gear,

john carter
(e. r. burroughs, from " a princess of mars" his series of science fiction books from the creator of tarzan)
capatain kangaroo
hazel
(from watership down)

i couldnt spell jaque costou so i named my water breathing ring "scuba"

 :D

Yes, out of my 93 posts, about 70 of them came from the BG2 forum. I am well familiar with the exploits of your kensai/sorc/assassin, etcetera. You are a prince among exploiters and the guru of game-breaking. =)

Here's a trick that I'm not sure if you know about. If you want to jump all the time, what you do is you make a ring that gives 1-15 jump, and then put it on until it gives you 14 or 15. It takes up the same amount as 8-8 jump, but if you have the patience to wait for it to give you 15, it will -always- give you 15. Easy way to stuff more jump into a single item!

LOL
User is not only a demigod in figuring out MW stuff, I read his posts now for nearly one year.
He was my favorit lunatic in the BG forums too, coming up with ideas I read headshaking and open mouthed.
And the point is, most time they kicked.
Put this guy on a Wallstreet job, he`ll make a ****load of cash by exploiting those loopholes in the trading law system :D

Only problem I see is that even with using every slot on every item for constant effect +speed ... you'd get MAYBE +40, and be sacrificing everything else. Not sure how expensive +Jump is, anyone have an idea?

You get plus 8 constant effect jump from an exquisite amulet. With 100 str and acrobatics of ~60 I make jumps out doors of maybe 50 feet. As a test I made a couple rings with plus 8 jump each. With 24 total jump you can reach just about any place in a dungon no problem. Including teh areas that have second floors you normally have to lev upto.

thanks, jod and cross...

as i am a ccnp in training, looks like i found my natural niche, eh???

(Cisco certified network professional....i am a ccna, cisco certified network associate, and i hack into wans and lans....and program routers for fun...)

actually, i was thinking about the constant effect low and high amplitude trick...so proud of you cross, for that, you have the users seal of approval....

however, jump is a tough one to see if you have reached highest amplitude...a fortify attrib you can see in stats screen, but jump???

do a lot of hopping around...grrr...you also cant see if you have the highest amp for fortify attack.....

anyway, tactically, i need all my ring and amulet slots...have found if you have enchanted shield for mana and helath restore, and keep it equipped all time, you can save your valuable ring and amulet slots for 24% chameo items... swap out completley with jumper items, and this cives you a nice tactical flexability...

so kiddies, you want to either create a ring and amulet of health and fatigue or health and mana restore items, or a shield to do both, but then you keep that item on all the time and you keep the other slots free for tactical flexability....

you will either end up a jewery store, or carry around 4-7 shields...

User: it's much easier if you look down and to the right on your screen, where a little purple box will appear, saying "Jump: 13 points" or whatever, and try to make that number the max. =)

Yes. Each racial bonus you have is a box. Each effect you have on you (corprus, blight, detect key, whatever) appears as a box too.
