Druids are not neutral supergood characters - they are neutral ;) unless, of course, you fail your test in hell...

Hello everyone!

I just did it...

yesterday night my human female totemic lady Aunrae started the SOA saga.
I never imagined I could have so much fun.
Spirit pets running all over Irenicus' dungeon killing everything without a frown? :) God how I love' em.

The fight with the Otyough (or whatever it spells)(the "guardian" of the prison I mean) was supposed to be a little hard in my long-ago memories... Mr. Spirit-Bear killed it by himself alone without taking 1 single point of damage or whatever...

Funny the idea of being sisters (with Imoen I mean) also, from rpg point of view.

Thanks everybody again.

@Yshania: thanks again for drawing my attention to Flame Blade. It happens to work like a +4 sword.... bringing my THAC0 to "better than Jaheyra's wielding a scimitar". (Fun) ;)
Didn't notice before.
Definitely worth using, at "low" levels at least.

@Aqua-chan: double wielding without any opportunity to specialize in double wielding? The THAC0 penality just scares me...
I was only trying to figure out what to do with my remaining hand. I guess I'll just use it to cuddle my spirit-pets :)
Looking forward to when Aunrae will get the opportunity to use it to caress some nice guy.....(Dowloading Kesley tonight)

@everybody saying funny things about the nature of the summoned spirit-animals: they are avatars of the animal gods, imho. American Indians' kind of druidic style, the Totemic. Not?

@everybody saying funny things about druids being supergood... : druids are NOT good, are not meant to be good, and are not ALLOWED to be good by the games' rules!
"Death is part of the life cycle, and is not an evil thing".
And so on.

Thanks again everyone for encouragement, advice, and for just paying attention to me.
I like gamebanshee forums and their members very much.
It's a nice place to belong to.

I didn't say that Druids are good, only that they too have a good
reason to love animals! :)
But, if they're already dead, I guess it works well

Oooh, I couldn't miss out a discussion about good and woodworshippism (druidism for short)! ;)
My image of the 'real' druid is a guy/gal who lurks silently in a forest all year-round, owns a shed or grove, pays no rent...wakes up to wipe leaves off the doorstep, eats little and is strictly vegetarian, hybernates for most of the winter season, and has blackened, dirtied nails the size of spears.
Have I got 'em totally wrong? :)
Trust me on one thing, though, they're not good at all. Powerful as they may be, their secretive style and sense of responsibility (IMO) do not leave 'em carefree and jolly (which are characteristics of goodyness).
Merlin is the best example of a druid. Especially if you've read the Mists of Avalon. :)
But then again, what am I blabbin' on about, I hate druids! :D

**point finger**

Druid hater!

Somebody summon an Insect Swarm and show this guy that he hasn't even begun to hate Druids yet!

*Grrr......*

 :p ;)

@Serje-have your druid use two-handed weapons,(like the SPOILER Staff of the Woodlands ) that'll solve your dilemma of what to do with your spare hand.
NWN apparently has the more traditionally druidic sickle as a weapon that druids can use. Yay!
I'm still going as an elven ranger though, if I can get NWN.

And Druids, sort of like Rangers, are nature's guardians. Rangers are simply more melee based, and also protect people, but it's still similar in principle.

Rangers more melee?

Not IMO (hehe)

Im a Ranger (well actually only ARcheR).....and I allways use Bows.

Now im going through the game with a self created Item (thanks again Sojourner).....called Bow of Friendship.....ooh God I love my weapon :)

Allthough I have to say I also like a normal Ranger dualwielding Blackrazor and Equalizer.

Druids (Jaheira) I allways give Scimitars.....just plain nice weapons :)
Spells would be: - Call Woodland Beings
- Iron Skin
- Insect Plague

@Archer_S: But then again, you would have to be the most cruel and evil archer ever to wield Blackrazor...

@Serje: I´d recommend barkskin on your spirit pets for the harder opponents. Just too bad they are vulnerable to death spells... Wonder if you can death-ward them?

Maybe I should have said combat-based, I prefer archers using longbows too, but my archer is still a better melee character than a druid at an equivalent level would be.

Isn't that item in chapter 7 if I remember right?
(Are you suggesting to CLUA it in or just to wait?) ;)

At present, Aunrae is relying heavily on Flame Blade... having no better spells of 2nd level and no better magic weapon either...
Then it will be Belm ... and'I'm planning to buy some buckler +2 or +3 (if it exists).

Right... and what about elementals then...
I don't believe summoned creatures can really die, anyway. If killed, they return to where they've been summoned from...
(ad&d 2nd edition rules say so).
Still I really care for all creatures I summon, and also cast healing spells on them whenever needed :)
(And I'm probably playing the druid like a good character even if I'm not supposed to).

And... doesn't an evil ranger become "fallen"?

Yes, that one does come in pretty late in the game, but there are plenty of good staves in the meantime. Myself, I'd just CLUA in the best BG1 staff to begin with, as you could legitimately have got that.
Bear in mind there are some good spears like The Impaler around too.

Yes, the Impaler... almost chapter 5. :(

I think after a quick stop at Druids' Grove (Belm & Staff of thunder) we will be heading straight for Watcher's Keep for the Spectral Brand... And Serpent Shaft... And Firetooth for Jan... And going to get killed in the process :)

Ok, we've got a plan!!! :D :D :D

@Serje: Guess so, but as you´re already evil (assuming you could use blacksneezer) that wouldn´t matter anyway, yah?
